experienced diesel gurus please chime in. Injectorr tips OR???

First off, I am far from a rookie when it comes to the wrenches. I am a beginner at diesels to a certain degree. I see alot of just injector nozzles for sale, and after seeing some youtube videos. and other research I have done. If I have the ability to just replace my nozzles, Why couldn't I buy nozzles and rebuild my stock injectors with a higher HP rating? I'm on a tight budget, raising 3 boys takes the majority of my "extra" cash. Always trying to save a buck when I can do something myself, and also if I can make an extra buck because I've got the tools for a job.
I have been looking into either building my own or purchasing a injector pop tester. So opinions from experienced diesel guru's.

Tips are and easy way to upgrade, but I personally would take them to an injection shop and have them bench tested after your done.... at an injector shop they run them for idle, mid, and full fuel... I understand the budget, but one can get injectors tested for about 250$.. thats my 2c

and by the time you buy tips and pay to have them tested, you already bought a set of injectors for that cost...

just buy full injectors and be done with it.

they really don't cost that much... I bought custom made set of competition injectors from one of the best builders in the business for $650 shipped.

they come with warranty unlike nozzles, and they are plug and play. no messing around with them.

what kind of power are you looking for anyway? and do you have the supporting mods for the power you are wanting??

if your tranny isn't built, don't even bother putting injectors in...you will just destroy it.

I'm not wanting to throw alot of power at it. 50-75 hp. I know my transmission wont hold too much. As is that is. I plan to upgrade the TC and valve body. It has a recent rebuild on the trans. When that goes I'll be building that myself as well.
I want better MPG's my truck barely gets 13- 15 mpgs on the Hwy. thats me keeping boost to a minimal and 3:55 gears. I should be seeing better MPG I believe. My truck does have 238K on the clock. Time for some adjustments here and there. Injectors, well, I figured If I'm going to pull the injectors might as well upgrade. If I could do them myself, and save me a few bucks, also possibly make some dollars on the side fixing some of my buddies injectors also. Thats what I was thinking about.

yea.. i agree with the others on this forum. by the time you buy the nozzles, take them to a shop to install, bench and pop test them.. your gonna be wasting your $$..you will have more into them then what they are worth. find a set of Bosch RV275's these should net you about 50 hp and are fairly inexpensive.:c:
