Hot Rod VP Vs Stock

Ive heard around that the Hot rod vp is not worth the extra money. I was just wondering if that was true because im sure i will be replacing soon. Just would like to know what one will get you better bang for your buck. Thanks

The HRVP is one of those fads that thankfully has almost played itself out finally. If you are runnin no mods other then the HO/HRVP pump it will increase HP slightly. But it doesn't play well with the Tuning boxes and other mods, it will take HP away from your mods and hold you back.

Ya thats what i was wondering if it would even help with all the mods that are on it already. Any more info around there guys? Thanks.

Just get yourself a good SO VP44 from Industrial Injection

HRVP44 will not "take away" any hp, they are the same size internally as an SO pump

with the use of a wire tap box the HRVP44 is pointless, when you tap that wire there is only so much fuel that can flow at max output. however if you wanna run a non wire tap box, injectors etc and and make the most power possible then the HRVP44 will beat the SO pump.

I run a smarty on 9, and really big injectors. with the only change being the HRVP44 being swapped out and going back to an SO pump, I make the same max power with my wire tap box on, but with it off, I lost 80hp. My truck made 496hp with the HRVP44, but with the SO pump only did 416hp.

Thanks thats what i needed to know.

My friend just got a monster VP. It idles like only 3 cylinder are firing. Its the loudest, sickest sound i've heard. one of his fuel lines was put on wrong at it scorched his cylinder wall on #6. he HAS to get a new block now (which he already got). But that truck runningon only 5 cylinders my other friend said had more power than any truck hes ever driven. He got his from Coaltrain. I also know holland Court Diesel sells them to. Hes running a smarty/edge drag along with the pump and unlike the HR the monster loves the wire tap. The downside is, is you have to run the custom "stack" injectors with it for the NO QUESTIONS asked warranty. Depending on how you drive just a set of larger injectors will work for a while, but strongly recomended to run the stacks. Give coaltrain a or holland court a call just to talk about that pump. its amazing.

As soon as I find some extra cash in the couch or I pick up some side work I think I am gonna give one a try. I just like the fact that he warranties the pump.

crazytexan 04-29-2008 10:51 PM

For that warranty...you will also need to use his custom "stack" injectors and cross tubes. you can get away with regular or larger injectors for a LITTLE while, but with that kind of money...do it right the first time. The monster WILL need those stack injectors.

CumminsCrazed 05-01-2008 12:35 AM

what exactly are and do the stack injectors do compared to normal ones....

crazytexan 05-04-2008 05:53 PM

They get you the no questions asked warranty. Also out of a MAC truck or something like that. I was told that the stock injector has .018 lift clearance and these stack injectors have .045. Dont quote me on this exactly. Ask Lostinwalmart, Jbarker, or call up coaltrain in my sig. They can tell you anything you want to know about the injectors.

so is the monster vp for high performance engines or can i run it with what i have, i plan to but a bigger turbo and really bomb it in the future.

GetBlown5.9 05-14-2008 03:34 PM

I would say for high performance only. you have to run the builders big injectors with it, and you are gonna need a big turbo or twins, as well as some serious fuel delivery.

i would say its only for guys who are in the 500+ range and looking for even more...and its not recommended for daily driving. some guys might drive them everyday, but its pretty smokey and is meant more for race/pulling trucks.

crazytexan 05-16-2008 03:39 PM

I would agree that they are for the more serious ppl that want incrediblepower. LostNwalmart runs a stg 2 as a daily as does my friend. If I were to buy a new VP no doubt I would DEFINATLY get a monster but only a stage 1. The power of them is just nuts. And i also dont know of anyone running a stage 1 yet but i'm sure their out there somewhere.
