Need the scoop on a few things. The best chip for mpg. Talked to "Performance Chips Now", and they sound legit. Only increases 2to4 mpg. Thats better than nothin but.... Is there anything better? Thanks

the site you posted is a scam lol

if mpg is all you are looking for: edge EZ. it is a timing box that will increase the injector timing which helps improve bottom end torque, slightly increases MPG, and reduces EGT's at the cost of top end power.

probably your best bet unless you want a full feature module, then you will probably want to stack an ez or a ts MVP with a TST comp, or just get an all in one like the edge comp or edge jwa.

if you haven't done so already, gauges and an upgraded lift pump are a must.

Hey thanks. The mpg is important. The added power would not hurt though , have to admitt. I love my truck. It's kinda like drivin a tank. Beast. Top end is just not there . Understandably. Not made for that. Seems like it's constantly fightin at highway speed. I've also been told about snow performance. Heard diesel owners swear by it. Just not sure i want to have to be adding methenol or ethanol all the time. Seems like the money i should be saving on fuel just goes right back in at that point.
I'd rather not loose any top end power. Lift pump is good info. Didnt know. I want to better her all the way around but heard reprogramming could do more harm than good.

Thanks again.

It can. If you don't have the supporting mods.gauges lift pump exhaust will help.

exhaust

Looks like it has a 4" magnaflow exhaust. Not sure how far up it goes. Fully intend to get the right stuff. Just figurin out what that is. Was lookin at bullydog but they make nothin but the thing that monitors everything but does not improve anything. Sorry , cant remember the name of all this %^$#.

first things first upgrade the lift pump and put a fuel pressure gauge on there...

single two most important things on these trucks. even if you run a stock truck, the stock lift pumps are junk and they are the #1 cause of vp44 injection pump failure.

fuel is the lubrication and coolant for the injection pump, without proper fuel pressure the injection pump will be starved of both.

this is why you want a fuel pressure gauge. costs about $65 to get a nice reliable one set up properly. 0-30psi mechanical gauge with 1/8" airbrake line and a 1/8NPT needle valve + tapped banjo bolt.

lift pump GPH depends on your future plans for the truck...if you plan on stock to mild performance, 95GPH pump will do just fine.

if you plan on 500hp+ in the future, you will need a 150GPH lift pump and 1/2" fuel lines to reduce pressure drops under WOT conditions with that kind of power.

next your standard gauges for a diesel.. EGT, 0-60psi boost, 0-30psi fuel pressure, and trans temp if you have an automatic or a moderately built manual.

and if you have an automatic and plan to build for power, you need to build the trans first. how much you build it really depends on how much power you want to make... could be as little as a valve body and torque converter, to as much as a full billet race trans...

for the manuals anything from upgraded clutch to upgraded clutch, larger input shaft, upgraded clutch hydraulics, PTO coolers...

supporting mods are always going to cost you more than the power upgrades themselves which is the sucky part about building up your truck, but the supporting mods are what's going to keep the truck in one piece and keep it reliable...

I have almost 600hp to the wheels and well over 1200tq to the wheels and she is fairly reliable...other than stupid little things that have nothing to do with power :argh:

currently its the stupid heater core is leaking... before that a mouse decided to make a nest in my blower motor which first took out the resister for the heater motor, then took out the motor itself. then I replaced it and they chewed through the wires! :argh: so replaced the blower motor twice. :bat:
