lift pumps

hey everyone, been looking for a aftermarket lift pump for a long time. and recently found a mechanical belt driven pump. the Fuel Boss, anyone out there run these typs of pumps? which is better the electrical pump such as a raptor or the mechanical? O, and how does the lift pump shut off once my motor has started fireing?

Glacier Diesel sells the fuel boss, bases pressure and flow off engine rpm. Have seen this pump on a street truck very simple probably lasts a long time. As far as vs. electrical id say it would be more of a preference deal. I like the idea behind the mechanical as it varies the pressure and volume as the engine needs it vs. running a constant pressure and flow at all times like the electrical ones do.

the lift pump would not shut off once the motor starts. the one thing electric has over mech is the prime feature to prime the truck in case of small leak backs. i have never been around the new after market mech driven pumps.

"After startup the stock unit is turned off via a Hobbs pressure switch and will not run again until the next start up cycle." thats off the fuel boss add diesel pap. it says the stock lift pump is only used at start up and after a filter change to prime canister. i found a fuel boss set up on craigs list for 200 bux. on glacier diesel there goin for bout 6 hundred brand new. and its different thats y im kinda leaning toward it.

they dont shut off they run all time or at least they are supposed to. if theyre not a new injection pump is in your future. I think the fuel boss uses the hobbs switch to shut off the stock lift pump I think thats where you are getting confused. It utilizes the stock pump for your prime but once the engine is running the hobbs switch disables current flow to your stock lift pump. You dont get rid of your stock lift pump setup you just tie into it.

i see what you mean by having the stock pump to prime then the glacier takes over:tu:
