Programmer for my '02
 

Looking into getting a programmer and looking for opinions on what is the best option I was wanting a Quadzilla but now that they are out the prices have over doubled I am wanting to get better milage and still have the option of the extra power when i want to have a little fun other than the intake and 5 inch exhaust this is the first major purchase for the truck . any other suggestions on things to do befor a programmer would be nice too

First you need to get a air dog or fass lift pump if your still running the stock one, gauges to monitor everything, the smarty or the edge are both good programmers if you get the edge juice w/attitude you'll have the gauges covered.. Do some research on both and get whatever you think best fits your needs.:c:
If your transmission is stock your going to need to upgrade that as well.. Good luck

I have heard good and bad things on both the fass and the air dog i see that you have the fass system what made you go with that over the air dog ? and i have been thinking about gauges and want to do somthing different instead of pillar gauges like every other truck out there thats is one reason i liked the quadzilla is it had all that taken care of like the edge juice with atttitude .

No doubt there is someone out there that has had bad luck with just about any product going, If you search this forum you'll find that the good far outweighs the bad on the air dog or fass fuel systems, I went with the fass 95 adjustable pump for not only the durability but I wanted to keep my factory filter set up(just my personal preference). I'm sure there are other options available that would work for you. Bottom line is you need better than stock fuel pressure to keep the vp44 happy that's why at least a fuel gauge is a must. The fuel lubricates and keeps the injection pump cool, low pressure will cause it to overheat and electric failures to occur. IMO those are the very first mods I would do:tu:

thanks for the reply i have been lookin at gauges and how i want to set them up i was thinkin trans temp boost pyro and fuel i am just trying to decide exaactly how i want to mount them because i want to try to do something different other than pillar moounted gauges like every other truck out there i just have to fugure out a good way to mount them that i like i found a column pod that i liked but its a single pod and i was thinkin that for my boost gauge and then was thinking about maybe trying to make something custom for the other three
