fass pump
thinking of using just the fass pump with stock filter on my 02 cummins, save a little money buying just the pump and can still use stock filter.. any ideas? thanks

I have my FASS150 HD plumbed into my factory fuel filter and it works fine. I don't see why you couldn't do what you are suggesting.

Not to blow the mission and rabbit trail this early, but... out of curiosity just how much money would one save by going this route?
|
$200 or $300 depending on which pump configurations you compare.
|
Thats the route I went and works well. I went with the Fass 95gph it comes with in-line filter and then thru the stock filter
|
Well that sounds awesome. I'd been thinking to go Raptor, but I've been hearing it may not be the most reliable route and I need reliable. Use this truck for work, all over New England to the tune of 50K+ miles a year. I can't afford to have a pump melt down 200 miles from home. Never heard anything bad about FASS though, 'cept the cost of entry.

You can get just the fass pump for around $320 add the relocation kit for another $30 saves quite a bit over the total coast of using there setup! Plus when i change the filter I can buy a stock replacement and not the $40 fass. Thanks for the input guys this is the way im gonna go.

Yeah, I hear a lot of people bitch about changing the stock filter, and maybe I just don't know what I'm missing since it's all I've ever had, but I've gotten pretty comfortable with it over the last few years. Do anything 15-20 times and it's hard to not get good at it. I'm sure I'd love the added convenience, but I can live with this for the money.

Then get the metal filter top from Geno's that has the 1/8" threaded outlet on the top for the fuel pressure?
|
Lots of guys use the threaded banjo bolt for the inlet of the VP44 to measure fuel PSI.
|
Huge advantage to having the pump more accessible with the relocation kit, as opposed to on top of the starter and subject to all that heat and vibration.
Do you still need to bleed the system at the inlet of the injection pump when you do the filter change? |
I just drain filter housing, remove old filter, install new filter. Fill filter housing with fresh fuel, drop filter. Cycle the key switch 3 time (leaving the key on without starting for about 30 seconds each time) And my trucks starts right up with no priming issues. Hope this helps
