I made a spool aid
Been kicking the idea around for awhile. Torched a hole in my inter cooler piping below my intake welded on a 3/4" nipple at an angle toward the brake master cylinder. Took out the threaded 3/4" plug in the intake side of the head. Put another nipple in there, then ran a 3/4" braided stainless line from nipple to nipple. Seems to be a little cooler egts and slightly noticeable quicker spool up. Can't tell for sure yet but seems worth the hour or so. Could be the cold but definitely ran cooler down the highway today with a couple thousand pounds behind the truck. If anyone is interested I could post pics. I now found out pusher makes the same kit a little cleaner looking and 300 bucks compared to about 10-20 dollars max on my end. Anyone run any of these before? Line is a water heater line from Lowe's should be good for heat and water but I put a plug and cap in my truck just in case.

I put it into the port that is about directly in line with cylinder 5 it has a hole for a half inch ratchet and I removed it via breaker bar it has 3/4" threads. There is also a port further back with a hole for a 3/8" ratchet but it has just 1/2" threads so I didn't bother with it.

So basically what you are doing is "Y"ing your boost tube directly into the intake. Going to have to keep us updated how how its doing over time. I really like if it keeps the EGT's down.

Ya common rail guys seem to like them but they have a bigger port to put it in. Seems maybe a fifty degree difference give or take honestly it's not much but I'll post up the true results I'm taking leave for two weeks so truck won't be moving. I've read some real good reviews on this sort of thing though.
And Jerrod this is Luke here I live over in Alamogordo. |
Awesome man. I am originally from Capitan NM. So I go through Alamo often. Are you a native New Mexican? I like your spool aid by the way, would like to see it in person. :c:

Interesting. Pusher makes an intake system like that as well.
Just by the title, I thought it was going to be similar to BD's Turbine Diverter Valve. |
I didn't find the pusher till afterward but ya it's pretty similar just too easy to make on my own to spend 300 bucks. But no I'm not a native here came with the military 8 years ago got out and stayed here married a local. We head up to the 4th of July every year and always running around up there.

If you lived closer I would be more than willing to help military out. I'm ex military and a plumber it's something I just whipped out in an hour or two. Little torching two nipples one stick of welding rod and that little hose. It was actually way simpler than I imagined just took a little planning out and finally sitting down and doing it.
