p pumping my 02 24v need some info
So i bought a first gen with a p pump engine (180 pump) i dont need another first gen so ive started pulling the pump off to put on my 02. but i have a few questions. i am aiming for 500 horse nothing fancy i wanna keep it reliable. my questions are these:
Do i have to get my pump benched? What needs to be done to the pump besides a 4gsk? What do i do about my guage cluster? do i need to order any parts to make them work. I have big dog 150s do i need to go bigger? I have a phatshaft 62 and a aurora 5000 and built some piping for the two but never ran them yet. do i try those or just the 62? What timing? What size lines? I probly have more but thats all for now so any input on this project would be awesome!! any little tricks or anything would be great. ive messed a lot with my ve but im kinda new to the p pumps. Thanks a lot! |

Delivery valves will def wake the truck up as well What do i do about my guage cluster? do i need to order any parts to make them work. I have big dog 150s do i need to go bigger? Nope but you need to change the pressure to at least 40 PSI I have a phatshaft 62 and a aurora 5000 and built some piping for the two but never ran them yet. do i try those or just the 62? 62 would be a great street charger but twins are fun What timing? 18.5 - 22 24v like timing What size lines? No bigger than 93's I probly have more but thats all for now so any input on this project would be awesome!! any little tricks or anything would be great. ive messed a lot with my ve but im kinda new to the p pumps. Wait a minute, the VP 44 pump can be replaced with a mechanical pump from a 1st gen? What electronic elements does this eliminate?
I have a '99 that I want to kick the body off of and replace with Peterbilt cab and front and fear of messing with the electronics has been holding me back. |
you will lose variable timing, and gain ability to get over 650HP easily.
150HP injectors will provide a good bit of fuel. consider it similar to 5x.014 in size, n |
So what do I need to do to change my stock 24v to a p pump? I'm not looking for 650 hp, just for it to run good, efficient and reliable.
