switching to rear disks

I have a 2000 dodge with rear drums and was wondering if there is a bolt on kit for this to change to disks? I know it would be worth doing, just wanted to see if I was in for a serious project or if its not to bad to do...

Dodge Cummins Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit 94 - 01 Ram 2500 Calipers & Rotors | eBay

I am very interested in it as well

THEGOLDPRO 09-16-2012 05:43 PM

thats a good price for the disc conversion.

RAW 09-16-2012 05:50 PM

Not a bad price at all. I swapped out my entire rear axle to get disc brakes. I also upgraded to a Dana80 over the Dana70 that came in the truck. $1000 from a wreckers for the axle with brakes.

THEGOLDPRO 09-16-2012 05:52 PM

My 2001 has disc brakes in the rear, I wonder if it was a mid year change where they added the disc to the rear.

RAW 09-16-2012 06:45 PM

From what I researched and have heard, that is exactly what happened.

THEGOLDPRO 09-16-2012 07:32 PM

So im assuming i have 2001 1/2, Not an early 2001.

RanchhandTCR 09-18-2012 07:51 PM

thats cool something I would like to do...

RAW 09-18-2012 07:54 PM

IT makes a huge difference, night and day in braking force.

RanchhandTCR 09-18-2012 08:18 PM

yea and be easiser to change them and more reliable!

RAW 09-18-2012 09:45 PM

Not too sure about more reliable. Mud can pack in easier and gravel can chew the slide rubbers. With guards for the rubbers, and washing the brakes, it is completely worth it!

RanchhandTCR 09-18-2012 10:33 PM

well I mean more reliable than the wheel clylinders in the drums that like to go out lol.

THEGOLDPRO 09-18-2012 10:45 PM

I will say i have a 2000 ram and a 2001 ram, and my 01 has rear disc, it stops night and day better then my 2000 does with rear drums.

Does it only work on the Dana 70s? Mine came stock with the 80. :c:
