lift pump recommendations

Newbie here. Finally going to start a buildup of a bone stock 02, auto with 80K gentle miles. It will be used as an backup daily driver and snowmobile and boat trailer tow vehicle. Here is my future plan (as of now): lift pump and EJWA (with display for gauges so I check pump pressure), later on add exhaust, intake, tap the pump and then a trans build up. Possibly injectors and turbo; we’ll see.

However…first things’ first - lift pump. Pardon my newbie-ness…..but stock one looks to be on the driver side of the engine block, right by the injector pump correct? So it’s a remove and replace, correct? Looks fairly easy, but I could be wrong. Do I need any special tools? More importantly, any recommendations on one? I’m looking at things like ease of installation, quality, and also the price of that brand’s replacement fuel filters as I’ll need them down the road.

Thanks all.

Yep, it's right behind the fuel filter bowl on the drivers side of the engine. Installation of an aftermarket lift pump is pretty straight forward. I have a Fass 150HD in mine and I'm happy with it :tu:
