Raptor question?!?!?!?!

I know this has been talked about to death but i cant seem to find any info on it, I wanna buy this raptor pump http://www.vulcanperformance.com/Rap...rptd100.htmAnd am wondering if it will have everything i need to hook it up to my truck, the truck currently has the stock "upgraded" lift pump in the tank. Do i need to purchase a draw straw to make this work, or will it work in stock form to replace the intank pump????

Also how long should it take a diesel shop to install this?

You will need to select "truck has in-tank pump", 98.5-02, and I suggest DrawStraw V. You will need that, or AirDog Universal Module Upgrade Kit . One has a more appealing price and works just the same.

Does it actually "need" a draw straw or is just "recommended"??? I know without one you can have the 1/4 tank issues, but i never let my truck go below half tank. I hit the gas station each morning to fill my landscaping equipment, so i always top the diesel off every couple days.

I have the same one, only issue I had was that you HAVE to do the fuel basket mod, which it comes with the parts and instruction. Glad I bought it overall.

Can you elaborate?

Do all raptor 150 pumps come with the draw straw, or is this just something you offer if ordered form your site? I was under the impression the draw straws were an option you had to buy seperate.

All e 150s include a draw straw but the separate one from Vulcan is a better setup. We can order you a 100 or 150 with the Vulcan draw straw

The reason you need the kit is to eliminate the in-tank pump from the fuel basket. It is replaced with a pick up tube. If you were to just connect the raptor to the fuel lines on the tank, the Raptor would be sucking through the in-tank pump. This will cause poor performance, reduced life of the Raptor, and may not produce any fuel pressure at all.

1/4 tank issues generally come from the Draw Straw 1. A tube that goes into your tank, with no fuel basket to suck out of. Fuel sloshes back and forth, or side to side while driving, and there is no fuel at the pick up of the DS1.

The Draw Straw V is an excellent unit. It replaces the in-tank pump with a suction tube. It also keeps the ports available to return the unburnt fuel back into the fuel basket, not the tank. This keep a small reservoir in your fuel tank for the pump to suck out of. I've been very, very low on fuel, cornered hard, and haven't had any issues similar to the 1/4 tank issue.
