Wheres all the how to threads. FP guage install?
 

Yeah I had these guages for awhile now. Finally getting around to installing my aftermarket parts. Would like to look at some how to thread espeically on hooking up the FP guage to the fuel line.

Do you have to bleed the line at the guage? just wondering because I'm mounting the gauage in a pillar mount and once installed it will be kinda hard to get to do so once its in the truck. advice needed.

Yes if it is the type that has fluid into the gauge it will need to have air bled out. It is better to run a snubber and have different fluid running to the pillar. Or using and electric fuel gauge

whats that? an isolator ? I am fairly new to the diesel world so still have alot to learn, but by no means am I a rookie on the wrenches.

I can say this, what I am planning on doing because I have heard alot about running fuel into the cab. So what I am thinking about doing is run my supply line to the guage. Then take a larger line over the S.L. and put a clamp on it over the guage fitting, so If the line ever did decide to leak, it will be rerouted back outside thru the larger line.

Gino's makes a fuel filter cap with an 1/8" threaded port on it and you can put a sensor right on the cap. No banjo bolts to mess with.

Barry sorry I ran out of light tonight. I will take video of my whole setup so you guys can see what I ran. I had to get my new fuel pump installed tonight. Boy was that fun. Spilled so much diesel on my lawn. Sigh.


Anywho these are the parts I ordered.

Basic writeup:

Autometer Gauge I run: Auto Meter 6963 Cobalt Digital Fuel Pressure Gauge

I tried GlowShift and went through two sending units in two weeks before I demanded my money back. Even if they ship you a faulty unit, they tell you they cant issue a refund, only constantly replace parts. Buyer beware.

1. Remote mount your sending unit. The vibrations from the engine will kill it. All GOOD gauge manufactures tell you this. Glowshift is CRAP and their instructions do not, however, if you call them they will say "the instructions are generic. even though we tell you to mount it to the bottom of the fuel filter housing, you should remote mount it."

But what parts do I need? These are the parts I HAVE on my truck and run just fine.

Banjo Snubber (I am a 2001):
Cummins banjo snubber for '98.5-'09 Turbo Diesel trucks.-Geno's Garage

Grease gun extension:

Stainless Steel bushing:



Order of operations of the above:
---use diesel safe thread sealer----
A) Screw the grease gun extension into the 1/8NPT end of the banjo snubber.
B) Unscrew the factory banjo bolt on the bottom of your fuel filter housing (some models are on top of the fuel filter housing)
C) Replace the two washers that are on the banjo bolt (about 4 bux a piece at dodge)
D) Re-install the banjo bolt


2. Screw your the stainless steel bushing onto the 1/8NPT end of the grease gun extension

3. Screw your sending until into the bushing

I zip tied my sending unit to a big wiring loom right below the oil dip stick. You will see it in the video when I post it. I ran my wires up through a hole in the firewall and up my A pillar to my gauges. I used the battery for ground and loomed the wire against the driver's side fender so it isn't in the way.
