Autometer pyrometer issues

I recently wired up an autometer pyrometer which worked fine for a while, but I recently got around to wiring up the light for it and since then, the needle goes haywire almost as if the power to it is cutting out. Any ideas?

Possibly a bad ground is what I feel it is. Are these gauges notorious for this stuff? I always thought autometer was okay.

Mine did the same thing on my 08 worked fine for about a yr then pyro started pegging out and go to zero just where ever it wanted too sit. Sent it to autometer it tested good and they sent a new harness back for free havnt hooked it up yet but we will see if it fixes it. But now my rail psi gauge is starting to do the same. But it actually reads most the time but still pegs out then drops too 0 but if i get on it will go back normal. Them are for sure my last autometer gauges though.

I Ran a new ground with 14 gauge wire to the battery post to eliminate that, which it seems to be fixed, but now the needle seats itself at 100* with no power to it! I'm with you on that one, first set AND last set. What a disappointment.. Especially after dishing out a nice chunk of change for them..

I'm really hoping my GLOWSHIFTS don't screw up when I get them installed..

Thanks. I will try the ground before I change the the full harness. I bought autometer cause everones said they was the best I got lil over 500 in gauges and 2 of them barely work. About the glow shift gauges i have heard a lot of $hit talk but my buddy runs them for the same amount of time as i have had min in and he loves his glow shift gauges never had a problem. And paid half what I paid

My pyro was doing the same thing it was a bad ground and my pyro stays at the temp it was at when i turn the key off and returns to around 0 when i turn the key back on I thought that was normal. I have had several sets of Autometer gauges and Never Had issues but thats just me

Yeah, the autometer pyros never fall back to zero with the power off, it'll stay at the last temp it was at. When you turn the key to on, though, the needle should sweep down to 0 and then up to the current temp.

i tried adding ground to my pyro and it stopped the jumping aroun. d but when my snow gauge is reading 600 the auto meter says like 150:argh:
