Boost elbows

I'm looking at in stalling a boost elbow seems like a quick cheap mod but i got a question or two. How much psi is safe with stock Turbo and stock head gasket? Not studded? And does the increase in psi give cooler egt because more air is going in or is there other benifits?

Anything over 35 psi on stock turbo is just pushing in hot air... making no hp. If u have the fuel to get up to 35 pounds then egts will probably rise some.

hot air is still pressurized air. it will still be making power but as stated you shouldnt push a stocker over 35. on stock fueling you will cool the egts a bit but not much for the reasons you stated. they are good turbos for close to stock power much more and they just become inefficient. your head gasket should be fine until around 40psi for long periods of time and or bunches of timing.

Do boost elbows help Turbo spool up any?

They do not, only increase the maximum pressure.

a hx35 is rated for 50psi, highest i'd go is 40, i'm pushin 40 on mine, but i spent the 600 bucks in 80psi studs an full copper head gaskets from puredieselpower.com
