swaping super 62 for twins?

ok i have the industrial injection super phat shaft 62/71/14 laying in the the shop and im currently running a super 64/71/14 im tossing the twins around my thought is a hx35 or hx40 with a ht3b or ht60 thoughts and would the twins be better than the super 62 and super 64?

sell the super 62 and 64 for 1200 a piece a build twins. I was considering twins on the 12 valve swap in my ford but I don't think you can just buy a twin setup meant for 12 valves, dont think they'll fit in a ford correctly. Better off fabbing it up yourself (a lot cheaper too). i'd use an hx35 and put an hx40 compressor housing and 7 blade wheel on it with an ht3b

What about using the 62 or 64 as the small charger and selling or trading the other towards s400 based turbo or something similar. Then youd just need to fab up your piping. I would think thatd be the cheapest way to go.

no i wouldnt use the 62 as a small i dont want that big of twins i was running an hx35/40hybrid with a 16cm non gated housing at one time was somewhat happy with it till i blew head gaskets may consider a hx35 and larger anyone want to trade a super 62 for a stock ht3b and stocker or equivlent?

i ran a hx35/Ht3b on my truck for 6 months and loved it they spool fast and had good boost now I'm going to try a hx35/s475 them I'm hoping to replace the hx35 with a phat shaft 62 in the near future

94cummins12v 02-02-2012 02:34 PM

i thought about it but with my truck the 62 still lags this 64 lags more but it has more pull to it than the 62 thats why im debating twins

TTcummins99 02-02-2012 02:36 PM

are you going to sell the 62

94cummins12v 02-02-2012 04:14 PM

ya but i would like to line up a ht3b first

now guys head studs alone would handle the twins corect? i dont drag it drive it 1 a month and i would keep the boost within managable numbers

studs will be fine. I just got a 60/64/14 for my 12 valve, if you want a cheap hx35 let me know. or i'll trade them both to ya plus cash for the super 62 haha

A hx 35 makes a decent twin setup the only downside is the wastegate setup. I've ran that setup but it had a external wastegate on it. If you are looking for quick spool and not looking for more than 500 horsepower the small twins I'm running work great. The he341 spools instantly, they are cheap to buy and if you want to grow a he351 will bolt in place.
The thing I like about the he series is you just drill the wastegate out to one inch and make a spring wastegate on them and they are ready.

I have a he351 over a ht60 just put on the 95 twd shortbed I've built. This ought to make a sweet setup, the truck weighs around 5600 with me in it so it ought to scoot.

The next turbo I'm hunting for is a gt42 off of a detroit with a wastegated exhaust. Bet one of those would make a sweet twin setup, they look smaller so fit would be easier.

The biggest single I've ran is a hx40, hated it spool was super slow with a tight convertor. If you ever get a good spooling set of twins you will never go back.
