New Super B Single not Boosting over 15lbs.

Recently installed the super B single to my 97 cummins. Motor is stock except for the pump is rebuilt and modified. Had a dyno run after I had put 300 miles on the new turbo and it put up 203 RWHP/468 FT-LB. Motor is a 180 hp stock. I have been watching my boost guage when hammering down on the throttle and I'm only building around 15lb of boost with the egt's getting over 1200 in a hurry. The truck will produce lots of smoke during takeoff boosts comes up fast with the super B but never gets above 15lb. I was hoping that we the fueling I have now I would at least be building over 20lb boost like the HX-35 stock turbo did. So before I put a new set of injectors in I would like to dial in what the problem is with my super b not producing that much boost or whatever issue I might have with the rebuilt pump or stock injectors. Please Help!

Check for boost leaks, may have a wastegate problem too.

Checked for boost leaks and tightened the clamps on all boots while truck was on dyno. Mechanic who was running the dyno adjusted the wastegate and made sure it was working properly. Still have the same problem.

how is the pump "modified"? ever checked your timing? maybe when the pump was reinstalled timing wasn't correctly set and its way out of whack. Trying plugging your wastegate and see what you get for boost #s, thatll determine whether thats the culprit or not.

X2, plug the waste gate and keep an eyeball on the boost gauge.

Actuator itself could be weak, actuator may be set properly but spring rate could be off. Drive pressures could blowing the wastegate open if that's the case.

I'm not sure how my pump is modified. The pump has been rebuilt and it dyno's higher than stock. Haven't checked my timing. Going to check out my plate today and see if it's the stock plate or a different one. I really hope my wastegate is fine. It's a brand new super b and I woudn't suspect that the actuator would be weak already. I noticed last night coming home from a beer run when I got on it in 2nd gear and the boost gauge went up to 10lb, stopped, but I could continue to hear to turbo spool up so maybe I have another air leak to track down. How is the best way to check for air leaks? Will also try plugging the wastegate and see what happens.

Well I'm a real rookie! Found a boost leak on the first boot, actually had to look underneath the boot to notice. Building a little over 20lb of boost now. Does that sound about right for boost with only having a mild pump mod (most likely my plate is forward)?

that turbo is efficient to far over 20 lbs of boost, i'd be adjusting the pump properly and putting a boost elbow on it to reach 35-40lbs. under $400 spent and you'd have twice the hp

rig up a leak tester, you need to apply pressure to the system to find the leak. with pressue in the pipes and boots spry a soap and water mix to all the boots. if you see bubbles you found a leak.

Do not plug your wastegate thats the best way to blow these turbos up.
