Turbo ?s
ok, my 96 dodge auto 130k miles , the turbo recently went bad so i pulled one off of a later model, think bout 98 or so it was the same turbo just no waste gate control line hole tapped into the air side I pulled the exhaust housing off my old turbo to keep my exhaust flange. I am currently running with this line unhooked, in theory this should run the pressures higher, although not as controlled. My ? is as I have no gauges in yet so I am going by my "seat dyno/diagnostic" but it seems like my boost pressures didn't change or even lowered maybe.I very well could be looken up the wrong skirt, but on 98 n up engines are the turbos essentially the same as far as wastegates are concerned? And how does the X-hook work? Does it just hold more preload on the wastegate? If that is the case could my spring be weak on my wastegate cause it seems to pop off too easy as I am very close to stock setting, small grind on plate an slid foward, afc adjusted, nothing more. I can pull empty, up slight grade, from stop and go 1/4 throttle 3 seconds or so then let off and hear the turbo "stutter". Is this normal this close to stock, or should I check into my wastegate?
No boost gauge..........I know, I know........:nope:
