318 To 5.9 12 valve transplant
Any of you guy know how hard it would be to swap out a 318 gas to a 12 valve 5.9? the truck is a 1992 crew cab 4x4 and I believe it has a four speed handshaker. Thanks in advance Nate

Really wouldnt be that hard. Be nice to find another truck for a donor to make the swap go easier. You need to find a mechanical pumped engine. I had one in a 81 Chevy Crew Cab.

is this a half ton we are talkin about? If it is forget about it. The Cummins is to heavy and has way to much torque for that light duty frame.

No this would be a 2500 or 3500.

Dont think they ever made a 4 door 1/2 ton anyway. I also didnt know that dodge made a true 4 door in 1992. Thought it was only xcabs or reg cab.

The 1992 was only a ext cab but I did see one of the same basic body style in Diesel Power mag. I just love that old style. Some one on here has a nice two tone that is just sweet.

frames are the same, as are the motor mounts... i did a lot of research for my 99'... just go iwth diesel coils and you will be ok... goto pavementsuck.com and pm a guy named superhawk.... he did the full conversion... now his truck is on rockwells, he converted it to a dually, and put some 46's under it with not issues... heres the link to his build up http://www.pavementsucks.com/forums/...topic=85784&39
