hx 55 turbo??

i found some hx 55 turbos on ebay. they seem to have come off of semis..not for sure. i was thinkin bout putting one on my truck for pulling. would it bolt right up? would the truck be able to spool it? as anybody heard of these turbo or had any experience with them.
thanks
btw they cost round 500 bucks.

what would you suggest? would a hx 40 be better over the stock 35? i need the turbo to look stock for the street diesel class.

hx40 is better then the hx35.

you can also do a 35/40 hybrid kit. if u want it to look 100% stock.

ive been searching for the same answer. got some help from these guys.

Hx40 flows more than a 35 but to my knowledge has a weaker shaft. you have to change you manifold and exhaust to fit.
you can upgrade your 35 to a hybrid with a 60 mm wheel and housing for $350 will flow like a 40
and the cats a$$ would be this VGT turbo on the new 6.7's but i cant find any kits or real solid procedures on how to properly set one up on our trucks. it is being done just not in a kit (which bothers me) I also dont know how LEGAL this turbo will be in the class. it is stock and all but will they allow it????????

i am going to upgrade to a 60mm wheel till i can find some solid install info on the VGT

Oooo get in contact with vcustoms86, he did a VGT swap on his pickup BUT it's a 24 valve. I'm not sure if it would be the same or similar as a 12 valve but I'm willing to bet he can answer some of your questions

we dont have any TPS or anything so we would have to hook it all up via vacuum

Thanks!!:tu:
i didnt think to fit an hx40 the manifold had to be changed? i no the exhaust does. im good there since i have a 4inch downpipe.

turbo2332 09-28-2011 09:11 PM

might not be the manifold side but the exhaust side for sure is different

monster12valve 10-04-2011 07:07 PM

hx40 doesnt have a weak shaft. the weak shaft is when u put the 60mm wheel on the 35. because the 60mm wheel is heavier.
