RPM Governor

I have a 3k rpm governor on the way and I'm wondering how this will effect its performance in speed and the way it shifts( its an automatic). I was also wondering on how to install it too.

Thanks, Trevor1994

instructions that come with the spring kit will tell you how, you are removing plug on governor, removing factory springs and replacing with new ones one at a time, you will have to rotate the engine over to replace them all, there are 3, a slide rule or calipers are generally used, but not 100% necessary, as you need to keep the same preload on the governor springs as what they were from factory, then you may have to reset your idle speed when done. should not really effect transmission shifts, you will notice now that you have power all the way to 3200 rpm, instead of 2500 rpm. mostly your going to feel it at WOT.

good luck

i would get a 4k.. fuels much harder..then u wont have to do it again later...unless u go to a 5k

@ 4 k you need a fluid dampener, valve springs and a transmission/ tc... stick with 3k you will be happy.

why do you need a fluid dampener?

unless you actually plan on turning 4k you don't

But why would you actually need the fluid dampener? Will the truck start acting funny around 4000 rpms with out an aftermarket one?

no it settles the harmonics of the motor, it will help keep bearings alive

if the springs are your first mod you are going to be very VERY hooked! LOL
