TC lock up switch?
Iam thinking about building my 47re and putting a lockup switch in the truck my question is does it lock up every gear because I saw a video of one going through the gears and it sounded just like a manual.
It locks it the second you hit the switch. Your not supposed to lock it until you hit second gear though... DEFINITELY build your trans before you put this switch in, or youll blow the hell out of your stock tranny :c: other than that have fun :tu:
put one in but would recommend a billet input shaft
ya the tranny would be fully built if i put one in or i might just do a NV swap
autos are faster
My auto wont lockup the T/C until it is in 3rd.
the stock vb will not lock until 3rd gear, if you are in 1st or 2nd and hit the switch it will upshift you straight to 3rd and locked and if you dont have the power to over come the lower rpm drop it will bog like hell
my lock-up if fully controlled by the switch and im not running any billet shafts going on over 20k miles on my current set up and havent had a problem yet and im not very nice to my tranny at all and i tow almost weekly with it |
With the stock VB the TC switch can cause some problems, different ones depending on year and mods. Some will upshift if locked and in manual 2nd at a higher RPM.Some will only lock up in 3rd or 4th.I decided to install a Goerend VB.Now I can lock up the TC in any gear without problems.Well worth the investment.

Another question is do they sound like a manual with the switch? Cuz it did in the video I saw.
Post the video they drop rpm when they shift is that what you mean? Set your vb to lock up in second locking up in first just breaks things.
