fuelplate Mod
 

Hey, i was reading on the fuelplate mod and i was woundering if i should do it with the stock transmission. Its got 120k on the tranny and motor. no shifting problems (auto) i dont rev the motor over 2.1k rpm's.

also off topic, when i bought the truck the guy told me the rear end it has in it ratio was 4.11:1 or something like that. I know there is a lower ratio rear end i was woundering if it would be smarter to change it out?

to question 1: in a word: No. these trannies dont hold stock power, much less anymore you throw at it...most I would do is slid the stock plate forward. In the end its all how smart you are, I met a guy with and Edge juice, sticks,. intake and exhaust on a stocker for 40 k...I dont know how, guess he just curled his toes in his boot to accelerate...

number 2: they came with two choices, 3.55 and 4.11, if you pop the hood and look up there should be a model tag that tells all the options on the truck. depends if you do more city or more highway driving as to the wisdom in changing gears...personally I would bump the tire size up to 33s or so to get cruising rpms down, but you'd still have the get up and go of 4.11s. Ive got a buddy that runs a 4wd auto with 4:11s, he has 17s on 285/65s. runs about 1900-2000 rpm at 70 on the highway.

x2 you can pull the plate but be prepared to have trans issues. mine slips at 10psi and up when the tc is locked:argh:
