I did it without a gauge. One of my dads friends gave me a different type of gauge. But it should be at 17* give or take. But I'm going to bump it back alil this weekend to about 14. Just cause I have stock dv's and inectors. I don't think I have enough for 17* of extra fuel. And I maybe moved the damper 1/2 inch to 1 inch maybe if that...

But if I was really far advanced like that even with stock injectors wouldn't I lope cause it's so far advanced. Mine idles fine. Little haze. Not much. And runs reall good up high. Just slight noise. But my dad is a diesel mechanic on all heavy machinery. And he said it's just cause I don't have enough fuel for that much advance that it's burning better and faster. Cause stock 12.5* timing it'd roll coal by the tons and 40lbs boost. Now barely smoke and maybe 34 to 35 lbs boost

And also that 1/2 inch to 1 inch was from the pup being set at tdc and engine being at tdc. Thought I might also of told u that to. Lol

Stock injectors and dv's with 17* of timing. Not enough fuel being sprayed into the cylinders

Ok so pull the injectors and put some thin washers in if your that worried about it. But 17* isnt gonna hurt anything if your actually at 17*. From the sound of things, you dont really know where its set at.
