4K GSK install now not running right

Just installed a friends GSK on a 97. Went to remove the factory springs and noticed that they were tight (about 11 rounds in on the nut, should not have been but 4 or 5) Truck would turn 3200 when he bought it. Removed the factory springs and installed the 4K springs. While doing this I dropped the small spring into the pump. Finished installing the springs and tried to fish the old spring out but could not. Started the truck and it ran fine but when you ran it up to 1500 rpm it would rev to 3k. It would idle fine Removed the pump from the truck and removed the back cover and got the spring out. Replaced the cover and reset checked the springs to make sure they were set right (.048) Also turned the fuel screw when it was off the truck. Replaced the pump and it is still having the same problem as before so I am thinking it hase to be in the governor but not sure what to look for inside the back of the pump. Gonna pull the pump off again tomorrow and inspect and compare it with a spare pump we have. Has anyone ever had this problewm and could the factory springs being tightened to much mess something up. Should I remove the inner spring and see if that makes a difference. Just wandering what you guys think before we take it off and send it to a IP shop and have it tested. I know it is something in the back of the pump cause it cranks better than ever and idles great.

I know when I installed mine, I followed the directions and fired it up and it idled around 1200. Adjusted the idle and has been fine ever since.

yeah all the other ones i have done ran great just idled high. But we found the problem. A shim was stuck on the inside and actually had to be knocked off. It starts and runs great now. All we got to do is bump the timing a little and maybe it will light the 66 turbo a little better.
