needed any 12v info u have
 

im a newbie to this site and this is my first post so ill start by introducing myself... i own a 98 2500 12v auto 2wd 180pump wh1c turbo all stock 241000 miles, i am mechanically inclined i have personally tabbed the kdp and have done some minor work on 24v trucks but i know nothing really about building 12v trucks i want to build mine up but am not sure how to do so any info would be greatly apriciated thank you

well first thing you want to do if your lookin to make alot of power address the tranny. it wont hold up to much over stock. easy cheap mods tune your afc an buy or build a fuel plate. then you could get some injectors an a turbo when money or time permits. the possabilities are almost endless with the 12 valve.

intake, mod your AFC, yank your plate out or grind it or buy a #100 plate. Crank your starwheel all the way. And deff a 4k gsk so the truck will be very responsive. there all pretty much cheap or free mods and help you build some power. after do injectors delivery valve bigger turbo the big boy stuff.

well since I don't know and this will probably help the thread owner I'll ask the silly question: what does these mods for the fuel "plate" do? And, does that only help VE/rotary pumps or ALL of the typical pump configurations found on these 12V pre-1998-1/2's?

I would suggest deciding what your goals are first. But know, it's a slippery slope once you start down the bombing path.
Honestly I enjoy the extra power, it's fun to drive, but my mileage isn't really improved and I tow just a little better than stock. Not enough better to really justify the money I've spent to get here.

The fuel plate is on the P7100 inline pump on the 94-98 12v's. The 89-93 12v's had the VE rotary pump. On the P7100, you can gain close to 150hp by removing the fuel plate and adjusting the AFC, completely free mods. There are also many aftermarket plates you can buy or grind yourself that will also increase fuel flow, either mildly or greatly. After fuel plate on the P-pumps, you can upgrade the governor springs, delivery valves, and even the plungers if you're shooting for huge power numbers.
