im no duramax guy, but he's got a LOT of money into it, twins, big injectors, not sure what for tuning, but its pretty wicked. the last time he dynoed it, it made 635 horse n 1114 tq, n he's done quite a bit to it since then. im bettin easily over 700 now. im gonna try to talk him into goin.

I dont think the little aurora 3000, believe its a 59/65/(12 or 14), will be enough with the amount of fuel he's running with full cut DV's, no plate, and whatever size "big" injectors he's running. If he goes with ATS, an Aurora 4000, 64/70/(12, 14, or 16), would probably be a better turbo.

Im gonna make a guess and say a 64/71/14, like an Super Phat Shaft 64, would be good for the amount of fuel you're running. Anyone else wanna chime in?

kinda hard not knowing what size "big" injectors are. Also what power level and goals is the OP shooting for?

skeet615 01-22-2011 03:12 PM

I just want a kinda fast daily driver maybe do some truck pulls for fun and I pull trailiers also

EasternAggie 01-22-2011 08:01 PM

Hmmm well if you're going to be pulling trailers you're going to want something fast spooling, but if you're doing truck pulls, you're going to need something that's not gonna choke out in the high RPM's also. Unless we can know exactly what size injectors you have, its gonna make it hard to pick out exactly what charger you need. Any way you could call Woodrift Diesel and find out what size they are?

c12vpwr 01-23-2011 12:00 PM

i run a ats 3000 on my 96 and love it its just a good turbo and i also have a ats 5000 for twin set that i bought new for about 4000 dollars thats for everything but im still running a single till i get a 5 speed injectors and studded with thicker head gasket

seandonato73 01-23-2011 12:05 PM

i would recommend something from the S300 or S400 series from borg warner

skeet615 01-23-2011 08:06 PM

how come all those turbos say they only push around 45 psi and my stock one pushes more than that now and can i have my injectors tested to see what size they are :humm:

your stock charger with its small housing and turbine wheel are overspooling the turbo. thats why your making so much boost with a stocker vs a bigger charger

And lots of extra heat.

skeet615 01-23-2011 09:12 PM

so if i go to a bigger charger will it push less boost but more power or air sorry guys just kinda new to all this just trying to learn and i like working on my own rig ya know thanks for the help

A stock HX35 will only safely make about 35 psi. For your HC1, its probably less than that. I've seen stock HX35 make up to 55 psi of boost, but they wont do it very long. An upgraded charger will be able to make 45 psi all day long, and will run lower EGT's too.

skeet615 01-23-2011 11:23 PM

ok yea my stocker is pushing around 45 to 48 and I'm scared it's going to blow

:tu:

with a new bigger charger with a better trubine wheel and housing your boost will go down, but your power will go up. The more air you can get in and out of these motor's the better

c12vpwr 01-24-2011 02:39 PM

i was push 55-60 psi of boost out of my stock turbo and it lasted a little less then 6 month now im push 50psi of boost all the time but have had more out of my ats 3000 i had to open the gate a little so i didnt hurt anything for now

skeet615 01-24-2011 09:58 PM

ok thanks guys im thinking about going with an ats aroura 4000
