Odd tranny question
 

Has anyone tried retrofitting a five or six speed hd auto into a 98 12V, no electronic controllers just hydralicly and cable controlled. I don't have any thoughts of doing it to my truck at this point, I'm just curious as to if it's been done.

i was thinkin about putting a 6 speed out of a 6.7 into my truck but you would need a controller for it, the 48re's out of the 5.9 common rails are basicly the same as the 47re/rh, they are still 3speeds with lock-up and od, they are just use a diff. style clutch but almost all the same internals

for the money you would spend on the 6.7 tranny tho, you could build your stock one and put a gear vender unit on it and it would be just as good if not better than the 6speed
