SDX injectors

i was looking at gettin the 5x0.012 injectors from SDX. i was hoping to get some feedback on these if anyone out there has them. is there a noticable gain in power? fuel mileage? how much do they smoke? (not really interested in alot of smoke) ect. thanks

96blackcloud 12-13-2010 01:51 PM

i love mine, it was a great upgrade and with a little additional timing my truck runs great, smoke wise its pretty much how u have your pump set up, i can make them smoke but prefer not to, there is no haze at idel, but with a turbo upgrade i could prob use the extra fuel more efficiently, over all great company to work with and a relatively noticeable power increase with the addition of the right mods.

cumminsp12v 12-13-2010 01:55 PM

good to hear. they seem to have a reasonable price for their injectors compared to alot of companies ive talked to the past couple days. what would you advise to set the timing to with out it being harmful to my truck? i still have a stock transmission and torque converter

cummins95 12-13-2010 05:06 PM

i absolutely love mine too. i have my timing at 16.5*. its not gonna be the timing that hurts ur tranny. that extra fuel is what will kill it

hey im looking at getting a set of sdx injectors as well but cant decide on which ones to get dose anyone know what size the stock injectors are? also any thought on 5 or 7 hole injectors ?

bean farms 12-13-2010 11:57 PM

it depends on what your wantin to do with the truck stock are 5x.010 with a 145 degree spray angle an i would go with sdx thare rely good injectors

line worker 12-14-2010 04:20 AM

im wanting to keep the stock turbo on the truck it is my daily driver that i want to play with a bit. i was looking at the 5x12 and the 7x10 sdx. would the 7x10 be ok with a hx35 with a banks quick spool turbo housing and wastegate

96blackcloud 12-14-2010 10:07 AM

yes the 5x.010 is stock with the 5 hole, the 7 hole design in theroy should atomize fuel better then the 5 hole, but i have the 5x.012s 90hp stage 2 370 145* pretty much. i like them, as for timing 16.5 is as high as i would safely go with out worries about studs and jeopardizing reliability. after studs and rings your pocket book is the limit

also if you have to stock tranny i wouldnt even consider the injectors until u have either a converter/valve body a auto, or a clutch for the 5speed imo. you can smoke you stock slippermatic with the stock plate full forward. with that extra fuel it wont last

line worker 12-14-2010 10:11 AM

thanks what would be a comparable 7 hole to the 7x12. I'm planning on doing the trans soon I just sold my 24v and got this one so I'm still shopping around to see what I want.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 12-14-2010 10:39 AM

I have never personally used SDX injectors but I have heard nothing but great things about them and there injectors.

94 12valve 12-14-2010 11:26 AM

I have ran SDX injectors all this year with great results

bean farms 12-14-2010 12:34 PM

you would probaly want to go with 5x.012 7x.012 will be way to muck for a stock turbo you could go with 5x.014 but it could run a little warm with that stock turbo i would stick with the 5x.012

cumminsp12v 12-14-2010 12:35 PM

thanks for the great feed back. sorry im kinda switching companys here. but what about industrial injection injectors? they are about $300 more but from what ive heard they are one of the best out there.

line worker 12-14-2010 12:46 PM

just ordered a set of 7x8.5 injectors from sdx should be about the same as a 5x12 hoping they will have better atomazation. Sdx said around 90 to 100hp. Supposed to be here around the first of the year. Thanks for the feedback.

II injectors are junk, I used to run a set. they hazed all the time and just never ran right.

IMO you had the best company from the get go :c:

Drothgeb 12-14-2010 05:54 PM

I ran SDX 5x12s last year with a single. They're a great injector, started good, no haze at idle, smoke and egts very controllable.

cumminsp12v 12-15-2010 02:26 PM

ive heard now on another forum that there is a month and a half wait with SDX because they are moving there shop or something. also that right now their customer service is horrible at this time.

line worker 12-15-2010 04:29 PM

i talked with them today and they said to expect my injectors around the first of the year. my neighbor did as well and he was told the same. they have had some trouble with the phones but i have been extremely happy with the customer service. i just give them a call and talk to them and see for yourself

yes they are moving there shop, but don't believe everything you read on the internet

Red_Rattler 12-15-2010 09:41 PM

They give out their personal cell numbers along with their shop number. Ive never had a issues withe them and will deal with them any day of the week :c:

took me forever and a day to get mine. but they're worth it. chris will give you his personal cell number and you can txt or call him whenever. :tu:

Pyro690 12-16-2010 09:02 AM

I waited just about 2 months for mine, but I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. Their PM's are a little slow but if you have a problem, they have their cell # listed on this site. The 5x012s is what I got, only been in a week, love 'em. Price is hard to beat, no haze at warm idle, and CS is great. :tu: Yes they are busy but they do take care of you. :c:

Red_Rattler 12-16-2010 12:24 PM

That was one of the reasons for the shop move... Way cramped for space for the volume they were trying to push out, this will help them and the customers in the long run.

There is a wait but as said above it is well worth it and if they had customer service issues they were impaitent when you order them from me we will tell you about the wait and we even post it in the open on our website Shipping & Returns (see #2) I have made a huge order with them to keep them in stock but I cant keep them on the shelves either lol
