i dont understand???

ive got two buddies with two diff trucks both have NO FUEL PLATE! and basically the same mods as me. except the clamped wastgate. i have a 100 plate full forward it smokes quite abit more. theirs hardly smokes at all does anyone know why this is?

same turbos? wat about afc position? starwheel position? those are key factors imo. if there afc was all the way forward and starwheel ff they should smoke pretty heavy

Maybe they have their AFC tuned so it doesn't just smoke.... I can drive my truck in town all day long and only have a slight haze at take off, it's all how the pump is set up...

ok im one of the guys he is talking about both of our afc's are set the exact same i just don't have a plate and he's got the wastegate clamped and it does put out a considerable bit more of smoke than mine will and all of our stuff is the same such as turbo and star wheel position

i have a 1996 12 v 5 sp 240xxx, it was stock but under powered i put a boost elbow and moved my plate about 1/8 in forward has great power but black smoke when i take off fast and if it lugs i didnt expect that with only moving it that much . should i move it back a touch or is it fine i hope to get a long life from it.

how much boost are both of you seeing? if you have the same amount of fuel but not the same amount of air one will run better than the other. and please unplug the wastegate. its there for a reason. i ran 52 lbs through an hx once with a totally operational wastegate. kids plug wastegates.

i look into boost numbers, personally. boost leaks, tired turbo, dirty air filter ect. on my personal truck i loose 7 lbs of boost from the cone filter to the stock filter assembly.

also consider tires size and gear ratios.

if your both running 33's and one of you has 4.10 gears and the other has 3.54's, the truck with the 3.54's is working harder and will smoke more.

one other thing to consider is the stall speed of your converters. the lower the stall the earlier the engine starts working and the sooner it will smoke. it is harder to get a turbo lit with a tight/low stall converter.

Most of the time I find that the Smoke screw can be to blame and Load will be a factor in that as well ..

I have tuned my truck to 4.10's , Recently I swapped diffs to 3.55's .. no if I romp on it off the line I have a good size smoke cloud behind me .. not I have to adjust my pre-boost fuel screw ... this typically solves this issue ..

From the Big cam to the 6Bt the pumps are pretty much the same theroy ...

Take the time to make adjustments for how you drive the most agressivly .. then when your being easy on it .. smoke will never be an issue
