Advance Timing
How much should I advance my timing? All I have added is a #10 plate BHAF and straight piped.

sure you can but the head gasket will not hold up and i think u run the risk of stretching the head bolts. but what do i know:s:
You can run more then that and the gasket will hold just fine as long as you dont try and blow it running it cold or beating the fark out of it. Running 21º on our current truck with stock bolts and gasket and that truck is treated like a $50 hooker.

Did I say you should run 21º? No, just giving an example.

you said "You can run more then that and the gasket will hold just fine " then said your truck holds fine at 21* of timing, implying that it is ok to run 21* on every truck with stock bolts and no o or fire rings. |
More then 16º also includes 17º and 18º and 19º. As I said, 21º was just an example, not that every truck should run it. To say that you CANT run more then 16º on stock gasket and bolts without the gasket going is not true.
Running more than 16* is asking for trouble.
and you say that out of opinion and not out of experience?
I state that opinion based upon facts I have collected on others whom have had bad luck running high levels of timing w/out supporting mods.
maybe MAX was the wrong term for stock head bolts. the term SAFEST would be more fitting!
Well I believe max-safest would be even better :P
Well if you want safest, don't mess with it. Stock is safest. (but who wants stock?)
I personally would crank it up to 17 or so and call it good. 18 if you retorque |
wat would i need with 5x12 injectors

So where can I find detailed instructions to advance the timing? Like idiot proof or so easy a retard could do it:)
If you've never done it, DONT mess with it. It's not easy by any stretch of the mind (at least not for a noobie). If you are REALLY good, you can get away w/ not removing the FC. But 95% of people cant do it that way (my last diesel shop are the only ones I know of that can...), there is a lot to it.
There are detailed write ups on here, just use the search, if you can turn wrenches and follow instructions I say go for it. Of course you have to have the kit to do it. (around 200 on fleabay) :c:
so how much should i ''HAVE IT'' adavanced with injectors turbo and tuned pump and afc and custom dv's
