anyone heard of this...DTT tuner

pretty sure i have a suncoast transmission...BUT i got two tuners with my 1996 12 valve and they say DTT tuner on the side and that have a little screw in the middle to tune my tranny but i have no idea how they work or what it does...sooo if anyone has any comments on this let me know :c:

Red_Rattler 10-17-2010 12:18 PM

No clue? Does it look like this? Diesel Transmission Technology - DTT Performance Diesel Transmission and Power Accessories

Also u could just give dtt a call and see what they are/do. That's gonna be your best bet IMO

blowinsmoke12v 10-17-2010 12:45 PM

nope mine is a small box like 4 inch long by 2 inch wide with a screw in the middle haha and i have two different boxes damn this is confusing thanks for the info though:tu:

cumminspwr11 10-18-2010 06:01 PM

is it the electric filter box for the tranns? they look like what you describing and help keep the tranns from "hunting" for od and lock up

blowinsmoke12v 10-18-2010 09:32 PM

welll i could post pictures of it if i knnew how and...i have a lock up switch for my trans BUT when i lock it up it like wont come out of it...does this help at all?

redrocket9793 10-18-2010 09:51 PM

My friend has a similar thing like that does it tap into your main fuse box? Is it mounted in engine compartment or cab?

blowinsmoke12v 10-19-2010 10:26 AM

wel right now they are just chillin in the glove box i have no clue where they plug in haha

Dirt_Diver 10-19-2010 07:51 PM

Im betting its a noise filter. It bascally trips your computer on the truck to think it has stock pressures

blowinsmoke12v 10-19-2010 08:45 PM

therefore helping withhh???

Dirt_Diver 10-20-2010 02:01 PM

For example, if you drive at a constant speed and gear and you decided to stop. The transmission will hold that gear(literally stay in gear) and the only way to get it back into first is to shut the truck off and start it back up.Which is very bad for the tranny!!

blowinsmoke12v 10-20-2010 09:36 PM

so its a lock up switch?

Dirt_Diver 10-20-2010 09:42 PM

no not really. but its kinda hard to explain. the best thing to do is call them and get them to explain it.

blowinsmoke12v 10-20-2010 11:23 PM

call DTT?

sooo why does it hold that gear and why is thier no way to get it out of gear..sorry im so noobish ahaha it just seems like there is nothing good coming from this little black box

Dirt_Diver 10-21-2010 02:31 PM

See when you start to upgrade or build the transmission. Your gonna change pretty much everything to get the best performance. When you start to jack up the shift pressure, your gonna notice your shift change and the computer will think. Ol something is wrong and itll throw a code and it'll lock it in that gear just because your upgrading to bigger and better stuff. And the computer in the truck doesnt relize that. If you put that box on it. itll trip the computer to think its stock prssure! Even tho, you turned the pressure up 2lbs or whatever. But my $0.02 is, you cant go wrong with it so why not?

blowinsmoke12v 10-21-2010 04:06 PM

ok cool now i just got to figure out where it goes in haha im going to take a picture right now and post them up

Dirt_Diver 10-21-2010 06:25 PM

Some Rams built between 9-95 to 4-96 have computer programming that does not permit this lockup feature to work with a lockup switch. Dodge dealers have the ability to re-flash the computer to a newer program which prevents hunting among 3rd, 4th and lockup, and allows this added lockup switch to function. Dealers may charge you for this re-flash service.

DO THIS or you will be buying a new torque converter SOON. my dealer charged me $45 to re-flash mine. but that was ~6 years ago

Dirt_Diver 10-21-2010 06:40 PM

I know the dealer around here, just to hook a computer to it cost $90 bucks then extra to read the codes for it and such

blowinsmoke12v 10-21-2010 08:03 PM

how do i know if mine needs it?!

Benjamin 10-21-2010 08:44 PM

when you lock the converter and it stays locked when you turn the switch off.

that means you need the flash. it happened to my truck when i did the switch.

blowinsmoke12v 10-22-2010 10:00 AM

sweet i need this then thanks!

blowinsmoke12v 10-22-2010 11:16 AM

ok white box has the adjustable screw with 3 wires and the black one has no screw with 2 wires any ideas?

daveO 10-22-2010 11:49 AM

:humm:

The box I have is more like the white one, but without the screw. It is the electronic filter. Not sure what the black one is though.

blowinsmoke12v 10-22-2010 11:55 AM

where do the wires plug in?

Dirt_Diver 10-22-2010 04:06 PM

Ill write up the wire hook up tonight for you!!

blowinsmoke12v 10-22-2010 04:30 PM
