Building a Tranny

Well my stock tranny is slipping really bad and my torque converter is very reluctant to lock up. This started after playing around with my fuel plate, which is easy to figure out how and why and it started. I plan on upgrading the truck over the next year with injectors, twin turbos, 3 piece exhaust manifold, and full dual 4inch exhaust. My question is how heavy of a build would I need in my 47RE to handle around 450-500hp, for a reliable play, work, and weekend camper hauling rig.

Side note Ive already upgraded my intake

I would do a full Suncoast rebuild with a Suncoast Valve Body and Suncoast Triple Disc Converter. I would also upgrade to a billet input shaft.

Why Suncoast specifically Luke, and I had actually been looking into billet input and output shafts, I overbuild most of my vehicles in case I want more power later on which i usually do.

I have always had great luck with Suncoast.

How was the customer service, and product quality, I have a spare 47RE out of another 98 that was rolled.*I plan on building the spare myself in the garage when I have time or at work on a good weekend.

Sun Coast Hands down is the best dude! forget about it none others compare. A bit pricey but well worth it!

Nice to such confident votes for a company on here :tu: Has anybody ever had any part failures and if so how was the customer service.

my buddy put a sun coast in his dirty max and it had a few problems and was a pain because he had to pull it out and ship it back to florida a time or two before it was right, i think it went into limp mod all the time, i have always heard dtt is pretty good along with a few others

to make you feel better my buddy has a full billet suncoast tranny with the trip disk converter flex plate shafts the works.. and he is pushing over 1300 ft lbs of torque and around 800 hp or so and the tranny is lifetime warrenty for unlimited hp (that's just on the specific full billet one he has not on all of them)

suncoast has always been good like said above a little higher priced not as bad as hts though. I know a few guys around here that ran DTT and switched to goerends. it all depends on what you like i would say get one from a business that people speak highly of. also a warranty that allows you to take it to tranny shops that deal with them maybe in your area. its always a pain to ship a tranny back and forth across the states.
