best exhaust housing for ht3b

i just put twins on my truck its a 98 12valve 12/62/66 top turbo ht3b on bottom it supose to have a 27cm ex. and it spools very slow and cant get much boost out of it i hauled a pull truck last night and egts were geting round 1400 all time couldnt never get the big turbo to do nothing i was wondering if a 22cm or 23cm would be better for me i tow alot and i would like to have somethin with more street manners but still want to get it up to 600 horse what yall think

what fueling upgrades do you have? (injectors...)

bean farms 10-03-2010 09:34 PM

i have a 100 plate in the middle position star whell turned all the way out goin to order some injectors tomorow from sdx eather 5x.012 or 5x.014 ant sure yet and it has a 215 pump i just need something good for towing heavy loads

jrad989 10-03-2010 09:53 PM

put some 5x14 on there and you will have a completely different truck. it takes fuel to spool turbos.

bean farms 10-03-2010 11:19 PM

think thats all it needs to spool fast and run cool no need of changing exhaust housing

jrad989 10-03-2010 11:24 PM

5x14's, 4k w/ valve springs and bump your timing and your truck will be an animal. you can do all those for cheap. your exhaust housing is fine. better plan on doing at least studs but i would do o-rings too to be safe. you got a good clutch?

i threw one away a couple days ago

ok thanks guys so i guess ill get a set of injectors and try that befor the housing how much boost can i run with the studs with out the o- rings and also i here if you put the fire rings in around the cylinder bore they want last long on a everyday driver because they go threw to many heat cycles and there not made for that if i have my head o-ring around the water ports and no fire rings that want help me much will it

95cumminsguy 10-07-2010 10:36 PM

I have fire rings with the groove cut into the block I got my kit from cummins, my truck is a daily driver and goes through a ton of heat cycles im at 5k miles with it and pull really heavy every weekend around 30,000 gross lbs. I havent had any problems with mine. I hear people have problems with them and I think its because imo people dont retorque the head studs when the engines hot, I know im going to get scrutinized for saying to torque it hot:moon: but thats what the instructions say and Im sure the engineers at cummins have you torque it hot for a reason. So far my rings are holding fine running 45-50 psi of boost.:tu:
