What clutch to get?

I am going to be shopping for a new dual disk clutch in the near future something that will hold good for pulling. So im wondering which clutch is the best bang for the buck? Kinda a tight budget but im going to save up this winter.

if your pulling a require a double disc, tight budget should be nowhere in that same sentence. if you truely require dual disc youll probably be getting the upgraded shaft, flywheel etc. calculate ROUGHLY 2k for a good dual disc clutch installed. valair is little cheaper than southbend. but not by much if at all

Yes you are correct tight budget shouldn't be in the same sentence. :nope: So i guess im just wondering which clutch would be good for pulling with? and i know that single disk doesn't hold!! and i'll be installing the clutch myself. (Joy of being a mechanic cheap labor for yourself). :tu:

Well based on whats in your sig you dont have a ton of power but for pulling what so ever a DD is the way to go IMO then you have to decide what plate load the 3200 and the 3600 are close to the same price it all depends on what you want/think you need

I went with a valair dual disc. Got the whole clutch kit and i got to chose between a #3200-3850 pressure plate. I ended up getting a #3600 plate and it ran me about $1,250 maybe $1,300

i love my south bend. i have a 3250 plate load. i'll never hook to a sled with it but it does great for towin.
its hard to get a fair comparison cuz not too many ppl have had both a SB n valair.

Haisley or Kenny's, Valair makes a good street clutch but eh could be better. Southbend, you lose. As for the the clutch. The ONLY way to go if you really want it to hold up against a sled needs to be sintered iron with an enlayed flywheel. Get your shaft from haisley.

I'm currently in a toss up between Haisley's street twin and Kenny's tripple.

From what i understand and gather, a double disc would would hold more power then a triple disc but i could be wrong

Re: What clutch to get?

I would get a Valair 3600# DD. Triple will hold more power.
