Unexpected results from 370's

Allright guys, Ive done everything in my signature, and yea, my truck does smoke, but when I was reading about the 370's everyone was saying that they smoked a redicleous amout.. my buddy has some sort of laser cut dv's with stock injectors on a 96 and his smokes more than mine.. I'm young and enjoy the smoke every now and then, any ideas why theres not just a ton of smoke??

Timebomb 07-17-2010 06:09 AM

The full cut DV's will ad more fuel with stock injectors then the 370's will ad with stock delivery valves.

x2 take those 370s out egts will be out of this world!

i dont know why everyone hates marine injectors, ive never had a problem with them, and ive ran them for years without a pyro in both my current truck and my wrecked white truck and never had a problem with them.

sure they may not be the BEST injectors to use, but they are fairly cheap and do there job well.

but to each there own.

BlackCloud96 07-17-2010 09:49 AM

not that i dont like them just your egts will be high i know a lot of people that lovem and others that hatem but i wouldnt run them you could get a better set lot lower egts

blackout94 07-17-2010 01:33 PM

i love 370s if you get them shimed for high pressure they will lower egts

Its all in the tuning and placement of the injector with 370's.
They are the most under rated injector for a 12v out there and they are quite frankly the best bang for the dollar when it comes to injectors. As someone already stated, are they the best option for your truck, maybe not as better have came along now, but, will they do the job asked, absolutely.I have seen a modified set of 370's make 792hp on fuel alone at one of our dyno rolls a few years ago.

the problem with 370's has been gone over time and time again they have the wrong spray pattern for the piston bowl, and will spray outside the bowl causing high egt's and smoke, will they make power... yes will they do it efficiently not rely. but they do work

Delray2009 07-18-2010 01:21 AM

Ive never had a problem with my egt's. I have my probe right in the exhaust manifold and it rarely even gets over 12k. I havnt ever had it hit 15k.

12,000 degrees!?!?!?!?! :scare2:

ozzking93 07-18-2010 09:04 AM

i think that was a typo.

Like hammer said, its all in the setup,if your looking for a good boost in power and smoke and are on a budget marine injectors do there job, but if youve got the money to spend go for a more higher end injector.

but if you wont a good bang for your buck marine injectors are pretty well a good bet.

Lostnwalmart 07-18-2010 11:59 AM

370 marine injectors do not have the correct spray angle for our trucks. 370's have a 155* spray angle our stock injectors have a 145* spray angle. you are better off saving up for a week or two longer and spending 500 on a set with the right spray angle. but like they are saying they do work.

jrad989 07-18-2010 12:22 PM

i cant promise this is correct but i thought the 370's only sprayed out of the bowl if your timing was above 17*??? :humm:

the copper washer that comes with the 370s corrects for the spray pattern issue

Like stated, use thinner washers and you wont have that problem, another thing with the marines is the style of nozzle they use, which will make more power than what what you can get from most injector vendors. SAC>VCO.

If you get marines just get the pop psi setup and run them with the thin washer, takes care of all the issues with them, for the most part.

Or not, still 8° short.

jrad989 07-21-2010 08:59 PM

close enough. 370 may not be the BEST injector but they are a good bang for the buck. they get the job done.

Close enough? The 370 is a micro-blind nozzle, makes very good power, but the angle should match the piston you are using.

bh10 08-02-2010 10:08 AM

I thought you or someone said the 370 is a sac not a micro-blind?

12vcummins96 08-02-2010 10:45 AM

the really bad thing about the 370s imo is the haze it is somthing horrible and so much unusable power

They are micro-blind, which is a sac type nozzle. It is listed on 1stgen.org that the P665 370 Marine nozzle is a large sac type, but that is not the case, the only difference is the pintle design.

toy4xchris 08-05-2010 09:00 PM

for the price of some of the injectors on the market and being able to get the tips changed out on your stock 215 style injectors IMO it is better to just stick with the way cummins designed it to work. Mother Cummins Knows Best......
