high egt's water/meth?
 
i got my truck back together today (installed the head, headgasket, and arp studs) and when i did the head i put 181 dv's in it. this thing gets hot! i havent gotten over 10lbs of boost yet bc i wanna b easy on the new gasket and studs till i get some miles on it but goin down the highway at 55 im runnin 800-900 degrees, my turbo's on the way out so im gna upgrade very soon but i was thinkin about makin a water meth system, is it worth the time/effort/money to build a system? id like 2 get it back to the 600* mark without cuttin back fuel, im considering puttin my 100 plate in but if i can rig up a water meth system and if its gna do the trick i might do that.

I would wait at least until you see wide open throttle EGT"s. I personally wouldn't jump to making a water kit based off partial throttle EGT's. 800-900 won't hurt anything.

i once heard a wise man say water meth is a cover up for being under-turboed. but do what you like. I was depating just the other day how cheap i could make my own water meth setup. if you can do it cheap go for it. if not save your money for the correct turbo. IMO water meth has too small of rewards for what you spend on it.

I would rather spend 1500 on a good turbo than 1000 on W/M and 800 for a :edit: upgrade IMO

you can get a new water meth kit with tripple nozzles from AIS for under 300$ talk to rodney

I went the way you are thinking about, with 370s and hx35 and tryed hx40, could peg 1600, added 2 big nozzles from cooling mist, still pegged 1600 at wat. now with new turbo im down to 1400. still playing with the kit, will see what happens with just water.

To get the most from a water/meth setup, you need to get the right size water droplets into your cylinder. It's the bursting water droplets that absorb cylinder heat and agitates the fuel to help with a more complete combustion process for more power. Getting that right requires some tuning between the nozzle size, location and pump pressure. Make sure that your nozzles aren't too far from the intake, that will cool the air charge but not lower egts much.

If you were pegging your gauge both times, how do you know that there wasn't a considerable drop in egts. You could have gone from 1900 down to 1600 with out knowing it.:humm:

Due to the way it works, water/meth will help you take advantage of a larger turbo by aiding in the combustion process in ways that work in conjuction with more air, not instead of.

I spent $300 on a high pressure recirculating pump, 2 nozzles and a progressive controller. For more power and lower egts, it seemed like a bargain to me!:tu:

I just installed three nozzles in the '07's manifold cover plate the other day. Like Drothgeb says, quality vs. quantity is the the issue for w/m. High pressure, more smaller nozzles in the right places. Dumping gallons of water in the engine is for hardcore racers and sledpullers making big power. Those kits from most vendors like Snow, Coolingmist, etc. are a ripoff. You can get better nozzles from McMaster Carr for less. Polyethelyne tubing is dirt cheap. I have a total of about $200 in the system on my '07 I'm working with right now, including a high quality 12v gear pump, a 5gal tank and a hobbes switch I scored off eBay. It gives me 200 degrees less and probably +40hp at WOT with the Jr. at SW2 - well worth it, IMHO. Don't need a new turbo right now. It would be dumb to spend $800 on any w/m system.
