govenor arm adj? pumping tweeking

ok so i have looked and looked, i have my stock plate grounded to a 0 and its slid all the way forward, im going to get into the pump tommrrow to fine tune the afc, what i cant find is how to adj the govneor arm and where exactly its suppose to hit the plate, can anyone explain it simply to me or direct me to a post about it?

if your running a 0 FF you want he gov arm all the way up. This way it will ride on the AFC all the way till it bottoms out.

"all the way up" like at the top of the fuel plate where its flange to bolt to the pump?

as in as high as you can take the arm, I have my adjustment screw sitting in a box.

wait.. u took urs out? maybe im not understanding how that adjustment works

94 12valve 06-19-2010 08:07 AM

yep I took mine out

oglejust 06-19-2010 08:11 AM

that just brings the arm as high as it'll go, this is for some1 thats running no plate.. im still using the aneroid arm, is it gonna catch on it if i took it out?

its not gonna catch on anything, it would simply start the arm out higher.

If your runng a plate than the arm should contact the bottom of the plate.

sweet thats for the info, gonna go tinker with it in a few mins

cumminspwr11 06-22-2010 09:52 PM

so i adj it up pretty far, im a little iffy on taking it all the way out, is it very hard? i just dont wont to lose it into the pump, i noticed a little dif but not the big one i was looking for

when you stomp on the pedal from a dead stop there is a little bit of lag and a huge black cloud, i tired moving the afc housing back and forth and got the smoke to go away but still had the lag and alot less power, before when all i had was a plate i could hit 30 psi as soon as i stomp on it, maybe its just cause im running alot more fuel and bigger turbo now??? all my friends that drive diesel like powerjokes and dont know shit about cummins so i have no one to really compare it to

I took the screw out while I had the pump out, to make sure I did not drop it.

with a bigger charger comes some lag, and over fueling it on the low end will also give yo lag.

everything sounds normal to me, just need to fool with the afc to tune her in:tu:

I'm running a #100 plate on the street, but will probably pull the plate on weekends at the track. Can I leave the arm adjustment alone? Also, I ground the front of the plate so I can slide it all the way forward and still get the afc housing on. With that extra travel is it even worth pulling the plate for the track?

94 12valve 06-23-2010 01:04 PM

you can leave the arm where it is, the beniflt of having the arm all the way up is it rides on the afc till it bottoms out.

if your getting full rack with the plate in there there will be no gain when you take it out.

ya i furgured i just needed to fine tune it some more, thanks for all the input, im going to have my motor out in the next month or two so i will just pull it all the way out them
