Valve Spring Install
While I have the head off I'd like to install my 60lb valve springs, intake and exhaust. How do I go about doing this install?
you will need a valve spring compressor, compress the old spring, remove the reatiners, decompress spring, remove old spring, install new spring, compress it, install reatiners, decompress it, then move on to the next one.:tu:
Thanks! And one more question? How do I get the retainers off?
small magnet is the best way, or with the head off needle nose plyers will work just fine.
u don't need to take the head off do you?
no you can do it with the head on you will just have to pressurize the cylinder with air through the injector hole it will hold the valve up

you don't have to do that, I did mine by rolling the motor arround until the cyl I was working on was at TDC. The valve will rest on the top of the piston after you take the spring off. |
I need to do mine as well but also need to replace the seals while im in there.. How hard is it to get to the ones at the back with the spring compressor?
