possible gain?
i bought another turbo from one of my buddies for $40. it is non wastegated, the tag on the side says H1C, and the compressor housing looks the same size as mine. the inlet is smaller and where the intercooler boot hooks up is smaller than on my turbo, but the exhaust housing is bigger than mine. i was just wonderin if i had anything to gain by switching the exhaust wheel n housing? is this turbo really worth anything to me?
i have the serial number if its any help |
h1c were used on first gen 12 valves and in 94 for the p pump engines. i dont think youd gain anything at all the h1c's were not very efficient turbos. but i do not know 100%.

I know for a fact you won't gain anything but slower spool and higher exhaust temps.

Ditto... Get your bud to the bar next weekend and soak 40 bucks worth of booze back outa him. :D

damn haha alright. maybe i can convince some ricer this is the greatest thing that will even happen to his honda haha :w2: what would be a good turbo for towing? im only lookin for mid 300's in hp. thinkin some mild injectors too, maybe 215's if i can find some. i dont wanna go huge, i dont race or sled pull or anything. just haulin cows, cars n equipment

crap turbo got one in my first gen and she is a smokey one!~ the one in my 96 lights up much better.

WH1C is a decent turbo and is the same size wise as a HX35 on the compressor side.
To use it though you will need to remove the large exhaust housing(usually a 18cm or a 21cm) and install a smaller one. |
H1Cs are 54mm Hx35s are 57mm

alright i'll be partin with it then. then im gonna look for a decent after market turbo to throw on the ole girl.

The stock turbo is MORE than capable of 400hp, give or take. An hx40 would be the next best thing worth like 40hp more over an 35 and a very common swap. Stock turbo with a good fp, afc tuning, gsk, intake and exhaust, and sticks are worth well over 400hp if tuned right
|
400 hp is not doable with an HX-35
|
i really didn't think that was possible either. i've already got a bhaf, 4" downpipe n 5 inch exhaust, no plate, rack plug, 4k gsk n the afc tuned. i really dont care what for numbers im makin. i just want a good set of upgraded injectors n a good towing turbo. im lookin for clean power so i dont want 370 marines or anything like that. and im also considering ditching goin plateless n goin to a #5 or 8. gonna bump the timing to 16 n im lookin at a set of those upgraded head bolts from the one sponsor on here.
on a side note im also getting rid of the annoying and far too common single stack in the bed n im going to fabricate some turn downs to come out at the corners of the rear bumper, n then some air bags too. haha long to-do list |
dont go with an hx 40, there junk. get a 62 or somthing similar from htt or a super b or whatever there called. not to big and spool fairly quick but still make healthy power.
