Oil Pressure Pre-startup.

Okay, the engine is almost ready for start-up (as long as the new turbo arrives Monday). I always like to build up the oil pressure in a new engine before starting it, just to make sure that everything is properly lubricated. The only way I see to do that is to connect an external pump to one of the ports above the oil filter. Does anybody know of an easier way?:humm:

I also want to pump fuel through the system before I actually connect the lines to the injectors. I was just going to connect clear hose to all the lines and crank it for a while. Any issues with that?

hook an external pump to the port above the oil filter, other wise you dont need to pre lube it if you have the oil filter full and little extra oil in the pan, leave the injectors cracked then you start it and crank it over 20 times then close the injectors

you could just leave your valve covers off and poor your oil when you add it over your valve train components and then unhook your fuel shutoff solenoid and turn your engine over with the key until your oil pressure comes up on your gauge same with your fuel :humm: it works and dont hurt a thing as long as everything was lubricated upon installation

i dont know why they dont make a oil pump standard to prelube engines standard on every truck- car. its got to be better.

Crank it with the valve covers off and shutoff unhooked. Don't start it until you verify oil flow to the head.

Also use a zinc break in additive. With todays low zinc oils valve train components are failing more frequently.
