Injectors, fuel plate question

Guys,
I have a 97 with the P7100 pump bone stock truck. I went to Pensacola Injector yesterday and priced a 100HP set of injectors and they are $199. Not bad
Question is if I add the injectors should I change the fuel plate Adjust the afc, and pump? Also going to add the boost elbow. I see different write ups on this stuff but not all together like this. Thanks for the help! Before I get flamed I did read on here the little role play the fuel plate has in the performance, It is just included in one of the kits I was looking at!

just slide the plat forward, and tune the afc, you can always take a grinder after your fuel plate

Should I grind the plate first before sliding the plate, and afc adj.

Do you have gauges?

Get you a boost gauge and EGT to watch those temps.. As for grinding your plate.. you may not end up with a good curve - sometimes it's best to buy one if you get a good deal on it.. that way you can always change the plate out.. if ya screw up the grinding job, well you're stuck with that plate. Anyway, the 100hp injectors, #0 plate full forward with 191 DV's.. My buddy's 97 was running HOT (boost elbow too). Smoked like crazy, and was pretty quick.. but he found out he needed a turbo.. he was peggin out the pyro easily with that setup. Plan out what you want your HP goals to be, then start finding out what you're gonna need to get there. For example, if you add too much HP, you're gonna need an upgraded clutch (double disk at least), or if you've got an auto some other upgrades to it. Just somethin to think about.. :c:

I did search with no results, but any of you used the Power kit from TST with the #10 fuel plate? It claims 33HP and 750 LB torque. Is it worth the buck, and have any of you seen these type of results.

forget the penscola injectors.... just remember you get what you pay for.....

215 or 180 truck?

I would also stay way from Pensacola... As for a fuel plate just cut your own. A plate alone will slip the stock clutch/TC.

Noted on the Pensacola Injecton. I ordered the $250 kit from TST that has the boost elbow and #10 fuel plate. They claim 330 HP and 750 Ft. LB. Torque. We will see.

If you got an auto ya better think about a tc and valvebody or the tc will start slippin and/or youll fry those clutches.

I have an 5 speed! Going to get the upgraded clutch kit from southbend.

A TST kit with a #10 plate will do what it claims and it WILL take out a stock clutch just as they say.So if you haven't already called SBC you better make that your next call.

Also keep in mind that the 10 plate will be hot and you will need to address the EGT's one way or another to keep them in check........Andy

P.S.-Stay away from Pensacola as if you search enough you will find all the horror stories about their shoddy work...Call the gang down at SDX it will be worth your time involved.

Good to get some feedback on the TST kit. I am installing a 5" exhaust at the same time as the TST kit. Hopefully this will allow for some heat dissipation. I ordered the gauges yesterday.

Just curious how many psi of fuel pressure does the stock P7100 pump put out?

IH1206 02-24-2010 09:46 PM

well i took out my plate and gutted my afc, and stretched out my oveflow valve spring to 5/8 , took out my silencer ring, plugged of my wastegate, and a aftermarket donaldson, and my trucks runs lika raped ape, no joke, i hardly run 1,300 degrees and run jus about 34lbs of boost, so it all worked for me and nothing cost me a dime except my air filter :tu: all i need now is a set of 4k gov. springs and my truck will rippp
