GSK Install Tips

I'm going to do an 4K GSk in my friends truck this weekend, and I've read the instructions both from BD and Pacbrake, and I have a good understanding of what I'm doing but is their any hints that could make this a little easier?

Might wanna try search......
The same type of question has been asked here alot.
It's an easy job, just take your time.
I put a roll pin punch on the tip of the stud and slide everything out of the pump onto it.
If you do that you can't drop anything in your pump.

Just like BTI said, take your time. I did the same thing he did, except I used a long flathead screwdriver, worked like a charm.

Recheck over everything a few times and make sure you got everything right, few cold beers wont hurt either:c:

Just a "few" no more than that until done LOL

I used a pencil magnet to drag the springs etc out onto the punch.

You'll need a pick to scrape the shims off the seats....they like to stick on there.

Thanks guys! I'll let you know how it goes latter on today. I plan on doing it in a couple hours once it warms up.

I like to do mine through the slot where the fuel plate is, insted of the side plug.

I was going to go through the top and not the side. After reading the BD instructions I was sold on doing the whold thing on top of the pump instead of trying to find the side plug and working where I can't see to well

So I'm doing the GSK now and in front of the plug nut on the side, theirs a wire going across blocking me from the nut. Im tempted to cut it and say F it but my luck it'll cost me $1000 to replace if I do that. What is that wire for?

Its safety wire to keep the other bolts from backing out. Just cut it, you will be fine. If it bothers you get some safety wire and re tie it when you are done.
