cummins 12 valve fuel plate
my recent toy is a 1997 dodge cummins. it is a extended cab 2500. i put a leveling kit on it and 35 in hankooks, bumpers, headache rack, fuel tank, 5 in straight pipe exhaust, took out the silencer ring, ground the fuel plate to a 0, slid it and the afc housing forward, turned star wheel all the way up, exhaust brake, and pyro gauge. it also is a 5 speed
anyway my question is for anyone who has a simular setup are you able to pull any trailers without getting to high of exhaust temp and also what temp does your pickup tend to run at? i am asking this because i farm and tend to haul alot i have had two other 97's and ran a #10 and #100 in those but had a lot more done to them and they tended to get really hot and i also had a 2002 that was aslo built and it to ran hot.. anyway i just really wanted more power out of this new one, it was just to slow. if you have any recomendation on what i should be runnning or doing to this pickup feel free to give me all the info you can thanks! :U: |
u will be fine with it
How hot is it getting? If its too hot you have to slide the plate back or get a performance turbo.
i can get it up to 1400 pretty easy if i get into the throttle
Where is the plate at?
he mentioned the fuel plate and afc forward, maybe full forward? he sounds like he might have with his starwheel all the way forward too.... why not push everything up together :choochoo:
Back the starwheel off a little, and slide the plate back a little bit, or you could just buy a new turbo:U:
you can get a hx35/40 upgrade kit for $300.00 all day.it's worth it,mine went from 1600*max to 1200*max.and alot more power, and it only takes about an hour to do the job.good bang for the buck.
yeah, i have the plate and afc all the way forward and starwheel is turned up all the way
where did you get your hx35/40 upgrade kit at? |
on my 97 i took the plate out and iv pulled heavy it only gets to twelve hundred but i also have a intake stare wheel turned up all the way and afc slid forward
aluminum (which is what you're pistins are made out of)melts at 1250*not a good idea to run it at 1200*for long!!i've heard of them melting at less temps.
ive got that turbo upgrade a new clutch and intake coming so hopefully it will run cooler and i wont have the clutch slipping left and right
i seem to have the same problem pulling hills empty at a altitude of 3500 to 4000 ft. 900 to 1200 degrees going 65 in o/d. if i have o/d off it is around 800 to 900 going 55. i guess the air is less dense that high up. i wonder what others are running at in mountain passes. in the flats it is 700 to 800 going 70 to 75.
yeah, i pull a lot of mountain passes with heavy loads. i just drop it in 4th and pull around 2800 going 60-65 that way i can keep the exhaust temp down below 1100-1200
more air or water
how much does it drop running the water set up? i would hate to see the temps pulling a heavy load over the mountain!!!
yeah, i really need that intake and turbo upgrade to show up becase with this new pickup it will pull 1,400-1,600 degrees pretty damn easy with the trailer hooked up to her. so i have to drive the thing like a old grandpa
