if you have an auto tranny you need to upgrade it

The next best engine bomb would be a Governor spring kit BUT
A big X2 on the trans i started out just like you than as soon as i put the Governor spring kit in the tranny went boom.

how much does the tranny need to be beefed up to handle governor springs. i have about the same as 12valvecory. I have a 94 with 100 horse injectors #6 fuel plate cold air 4 inch exhaust and gauges. the tranny has been rebuilt but im not sure wat all was done. the guy before me has done it. Ik it has the towing valve body in it and a shift kit but thats all iknow

I would say at least a good valve body and a Torq converter. You can definitely tell the difference with the Governor spring kit it will free up some more power and allow you to run at a much higher rpm than before that's what causes the trans issues, a stock trans wasn't build to run at 3k rpms. You might want to find out who made and if he upgraded the torq converter now I'm a huge fan of the goerend trans I have one in my 95 and it performs way better than my stock 06 they have a great product and a great warranty.

well i would imagine it would have to have a new torque converter since thats usually wat ruins the trans. i dont know if it would be a upgraded one or not. all i know is that it has the towing valve body and shift kit. how hard is it to install the gov springs?

12valvecory 08-20-2009 05:53 PM

Thanks for the tips but I still have questions like will the torque converter make the truck faster and wats gona give me more power a # 6 plate or a #100 thanks.

The converter wont really make the truck faster but you wont be able to get the power to the tires with out it. your stock trans wont handle extra power with a stock converter and take it from me replacing a trans gets really expensive I went through 3 before I got smart and got a converter and valve body.

As for the fuel plates a 100 plate is a modified 10 plate which was based as more of a towing setting. I am pretty sure your gonna make more power with the 100 plate though do to the fact that it will fuel more.
if your looking for just straight up power/fuel do a 0 plate. but before you do any other mods I would take care of that trans before it goes boom on ya

a gsk is actually fairly easy to install just make sure to be extra careful when removing the old ones and installing the new ones because it is easy to have them fall down inside the injection pump and then that is a pita to get them out.
