Moving Stock Plate Forward

Is there any advantage to doing this? Will it help any with acceleration? What will it accomplish? I'm bored today and want to tinker with the truck.

Any opinions?

big advantage. leave it about 1/16th of an inch back from all the way. it'll add more fuel. or take it out and grind it down a bit but i'd probably get a pyro in it before grinding it. stock profile u should be fine. mine never got hot anyway.

here's wut my stocker looked like after i got done with it.

and here's a generic profile comparison that's been floating around if ur interested.

but to answer ur first question... sliding the plate forward or taking the face down allows the gov arm to slide forward more. this gives the pump more fuel and the truck more performance.

Yea, I've got that one saved. Not really ready to modify the plate or get another one yet. No gauges, so I don't want to chance it. I would just like a little more than the 160 pump puts out at stock. Thanks for the info and pic.

no problem. well it kinda starts the domino effect when u do. :) but u'll be pleasantly surprised with just moving the plate forward. and u won't have to worry about tearing up the truck either.

A #10 wouldn't get to hot. It's a fairly mild plate for the 94-95 autos, I Ran one for about 2 months before I threw my injectors in and didn't have any problems with EGTs.

But your right waiting for gauges would be the smart, safe thing to do.

i know from past knowledge if you just move the stock plate all the way foreward, for some reason it pops real bad at over 2000rpms.i know of two trucks like that.mine i put a #5 tst in the stock place i like it that way.it looks like you can make your own pretty easy.now i find out, well its to late now.thanks

How hard is sliding the plate forward on a stock Auto transmission?

it depends on if you only use half throttle.... if so that it's not hard at all..... if the truck ever see's WOT.... then ya kiss that stock tranny goodbye....

bow2no1 05-08-2007 09:38 PM

i just put a #10 on my rig.

when it feels like speed ripples crom the T/C sliping and the tach stays at 3K and there is less acceleration that it had when it was stock..... then it is very easy to not go WOT..... and when you don't have 5K to buy a BUILT tranny....

Is moving the plate foward next on the list after doing exhaust and intake.. the reason i ask is because i have a friend with a 94 that needs more power

wilke12V 10-08-2008 03:56 PM

i had a brain fart what is wot? would you need a pyro to move the stock plate forward?

Dr. Evil 10-08-2008 04:24 PM

WOT = Wide Open Throttle....and YES.
