You mean where it hooks up to the engine?

This is easy...:
Attachment 57108 Boost Gauge Installation Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel 1991-1998 12 Valve (Intercooled) - the above pic is of a first gen 12V, the procedure is the same for a second gen 12V. 1. Locate and remove the 1/8" NPT pipe plug (see pic) on the driver's side of the intake manifold. 2. Install the fitting and connect the hose making sure that the hose fits snug but does not pinch. Alternately, you can drill and tap the intake manifold. |
I prefer to drill and tap the intake for my hookup point. Boost gauges lat much longer and stay quiet forever.
We have boost bolts that we ship with every gauge package. That is another easy solution to hook up the gauges. Dave |
Interesting....never had any trouble with mine or even heard that before.
Where would a boost bolt go on a 12V? |

Where would a boost bolt go n a 12V? But, I still prefer the air horn for my tap location in all applications. I have taken noisey gauges and they can quiet down from just the move of monitoring point. Dave |
Good stuff Dave - thanks.
|
hey thanks guys but the wires for all the guages r pissin me off. i shoot weapons not play connect till it works. but i didfind that port on the engine like you said i will tap that and just have an audio store or some one who knows wires to fix this mind game for me.
next step 70 hp injectors and jake brake with trans lock. after that banks power pack or somethin just as good for a hell of alot cheaper but with the split intake manifold like banks manifold for 96 dodge diesels.:argh: |
Hey bud, we sure can step you through the wiring its not very hard.
What brand of guages do you have?, which guages do you have (boost and EGT I assume)...?? |

Do you need any help with the guage install/wiring?
|
Let us know. Between us here there are probably more than 1000 installs.

wires
i finnaly got the wires in and hooked up right. took me a while to do so but they are in.
next step would be to get the battery terminal fixed for some reason this thing decided to melt and split the female end for no reason all grounds and all + wires was hooked up correctly ther are no loose hangin wires. my volt meter bounces around between 12and14 volts and when i step on it the lights get brighter i think maybe the alt might be going out. and what is the difference between the p7100 inj pump and the other? just wondering.:argh: |
p7100 and ve are mechanical pumps

You do not need to T into the other one just use the blind hole thats not being used.Someone said about the gauges getting noisy if you do not tap the air horn and thats not correct at all.The mechanical gauges have been in my truck since 1998 and I have had no issues with the boost gauge at all.
|
not sure how old this thread is but i joined diesel bombers because of it. anybody have tips for wiring gauges? im about to install a pyro transtemp and boost gauge from glowshift.
|
i understand the process and found the port but the port is threaded and the fitting in the kit is a female adapter.... how does that work?
|
Youll need a different fitting (male) or you could get a 1/8" npt nipple.
Not sure where you go your guages from - they shouldnt ship like that. |
thanx for the reply, i got one more question....
when i removed my head i noticed the metal line coming from my wastegate going up over motor between valve covers has a large hole in it.. i cant tell if the previous owner did that on porpuse or if it got rubbed thru, is that a problem and if so where can i get another line? i thought about just cuting it and putin a rubber hose there to connect it but its rite next to the manifold, thought the head mite melt it... any suggestions?:humm: |
you will lose boost through that tube if it is cut. that is what opens the wastegate.
|
k, thanx. so is that where the boost elbow goes?
maybe ill just put a rubber line over the hole in the line:humm: |
turns out autometer missed the male fitting that goes to the boost port or intake w/e the case wanna mail me the part? send me a link to where i can pay ya.... thanx
|
My Autometer boost didn't come with it either.
It's also been on there for 80K and still working fine and completely silent. That said, I wonder if Dave was talking about electric gauges? I know my electric fuel pressure gauge makes a racket, boost pressure might be the same deal. |
