Building an engine for my Excursion...
Currently in the teardown of my 215 pump 12 valve, what kinda RWHP do you guys think it will make with a #100 plate full forward, governor springs, valve springs, a performance manifold, intake manifold, as well as a free flowing filter?

From what I have heard, this pump and injector setup is fairly good. But how much is it good for? Not too interested in a turbo upgrade, but it isn't too far out of my budget if need be for this build. I also have some headbolts that I'm gonna install just incase.
round 300 would be my guess if tuned right.
What is the reason for the rebuild? |
with the money spent on a ex and intake manifolds you could nearly afford a turbo as well as intake and exhaust manifolds nearly do nothing. and unless you ex manifold is cracked id just leave it. not sure what your goals are but if you put that it will be far easier to help.and 94 is on point, with stock air your looking at around 300 ish horse and you could easily get too hot with a 215 engine and a stock hx 35.

Different manifold to locate it away from the HVAC
Intake manifold, because I'm handy with a welder

What is the reason for the rebuild? Do y'all think my existing fuel setup will be good enough if I throw a HX40, or S300 on it? Was hoping to get to at least 350~400 |
easily 400, i depending which turbo, we ran an 64.5 bd special, stock truck, tuning, 4gsk, and it made 400/850
Trying not to go too big for now, I was thinking of something no bigger than a 62. my wife will be driving it. But once she gets bored with it.... :c:
A 62 would be the best choice for what your after the 65 turbine would be my choice
Any ideas on a good company to get one from? Or for that matter even what I could source one off of? Not too big into installing used parts, but if I can get it cheap enough...
Pretty much any site sponsor can hook you up just post an add in the get a quote section
I have a preferred dealer. Just wondering if I should go with ATS, industrial, BD, or such, not sure who to go with
Not ats, not industral. Go with dap which is a sponsor here or Cpp or bd. Bd has the best prices I believe and offers full install kits. Ats and industrial are over priced name brands.
I see you have done an engine swap yourself, did you use any particular company for swap parts? There is quite a few out there.
I used auto world. I'm actually in the last parts of the swap right now. There's lots of small things to do as well I did a full frame off restoration basically to the truck. Aswell as going fairly high performance which a lot of people don't I guess since they didn't have a lot of answers when I told them I wanted to mill my intake off and potentially make 6-800 horse down the road.
just an fyi there is no need to mill the intake off to make 6-800 hp
Oh I know, I did it for a bunch more reasons. Spool, egt, to be different, make the intake removable incase of dropping aiming by the pump. I'm aiming for about 550 or so with my 64.5 but that should be easy for the engine.

Did some cleaning and painting today! some pics coming soon if anyone cares, :tttt:

Dumb question. What is that thing I have tied up above the engine? Cruise control actuator?
