215 injectors with a 160 pump
Is this gonna work? Will a set of injectors for a 215hp 6bt run that extra 55hp when bolted to a truck with an OEM pump from a 95 auto (160hp)?
Or am I looking at mucking with the pump to get it to feed those injectors? I figure a good start on 250 rwhp when a guy already needs injectors is to...well....get better ones. These are new from Cummins for 190 bucks. I cannot complain. |
:tu:They will work .. You will need more fuel pressure @ IP .. by using an adjustable Overflow Valve you can tune it in ..
The only difference between a 215 and a 160 pump is a 32 dollar aftermarket overflow valve?
NO .. The difference is the amount of flow and the injector hole size ...
Like 5x8= 5 hole .. .08" injection hole or 5x16 = 5 hole .. .016" holes . the bigger the holes .. the more the injector will flow = more bang = more power :tu: |
Yes I realize that. But I have injectors figured.
I was only referencing the 160 pump compared to the 215 pump. If the flow difference can be made up with an overflow valve, is that it? |
No u need , OFV, DV's, and the major difference is in the cam profile of the 215 vs 16-180 pumps ..
Damn....thought I could just get the 215 injectors and the overflow haha. Never that simple.
They will work just as it is, no need to touch the pump. put them in and have fun.
Well if you needed more pressure and if you wanted a tad more flow .. you can go with bigger DV's and the 215 inj's will work even better .. mt $.02:c:
for the goals you listed they will work just fine
