Injector recommendations
I have a 97 3500 that I have been fiddling with for a while. It runs great but seems to run low on power above 3000 rpm. I also have a bit of fuel leaking from the injector body on several injectors. Thinking about changing injectors and not sure what would work good. This truck is a street driven truck, I tow with it sometimes and I don't want it to smoke at all if I can help it. More power to about 3700 would be nice. Also kinda want to keep my stock injectors.
I looked at some cheap (dollar wise) injectors from Diesel Power Products. Dodge 12 Valve Fuel Injectors 90/70 HP Any idea if these are good? If so, then would I use the 70 or 90? Thanks very much for your input! |
I think the power thing is gonna be a tuning issue .. as for the fuel leak, I would go 90's and I think your going to be needing a Pyro if you dont already have one ...

Are you sure fuel is leaking from the body and not the return line? Have you recently installed them?
Above 3K you really need more air than the HX35 can provide. You are also probably lacking in LP pressure. I would steer clear of those injectors. They are aftermarket marine injectors. Most likely with a 155* spray pattern. You really need to stick with an injector that has the correct 145* spray pattern for your truck. Especially if heat and smoke are a concern. Chris |
I am pretty sure it is leaking from the body of most of them. I cleaned them up real good and ran the engine for a while, then rechecked and there was no fuel or wetness at all above the middle of the injector body. I also tightened the return lines a bit to be sire they aren't loose.
By LP pressure, do you mean low side fuel pressure? |
lp= Lift Pump :tu:

Go for some good injectors that are the correct spray pattern.

At one point I ran a set of 150hp industrial injection sticks, I switched to a set of CPP 7x0.14 SAC sticks, I dropped about 200* on the pyro, I absolutely love them! But that is just my input...
|
thats because SAC's are 7 hole and tend to atomize fuel and burn more completly .. better spool but in the end .. might be more pickey about fuel pressures ..

Here is a very good write up that may steer you in the correct direction SACorVCO
