Super b special
So I just got my new turbo yesterday, but I'm a little surprised in the amount of shaft side to side play in it. Should I be concerned?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I'd share a video of it but I don't thinks it will let me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
all new chargers will have side to side and very little in and out play. After some oil is ran through it it will tighten up a little bit. With the shaft thrusted to either side if the comp wheel does not hit the housing it will be just fine. The in and out play is really what your going to want to watch.
Remember before you put the oil feed line on add some oil into the trubo. |
dave is right on :tu:
|
s300's are remarcably loose compared to other chargers. it is fine.
|
Ok thanks fellas, as soon as I get my manifold next week I'll be putting this turbo on.

So, hows the turbo treatin ya ???
|
So far it's great! It's a little laggy at bottom end but my afc needs re-adjusted so it could because of that

Awesome , apply more star wheel to get some low end velocity out of it , back off the smoke screw if its too smokey ... should be awesome !! viedo and pics would be awesome too
|
Yea the smoke screw needs backed out a good bit, I'm in the process of getting a pressure/vacuum tester so once I get that I'm going to set the afc to full fuel at 15psi. I'm not even sure where the star wheel was set at when the pump was benched.

probably tight .... loosen a bit .... i left out the plug for the wheel ... found a quiet back road ... i just tuned till it was awesome ..
|
It's been awhile since I adjusted a star wheel, if I remember right, looser the spring the more boost pressure it's going to take to move the afc foot. Correct?

Hmm I remembered wrong then haha, I know the pre-boost screw is in too far. Once I adjust that I'll have to play with the star wheel

Well I tinkered with the preboost screw a little on my lunch break..I'm gonna have to pull the afc off and look at it further. It felt like the screw was backed away from the foot a good bit.

Lagging or is it smoking ??
|
I'd say laggy. Just because even driving on the interstate, if I let off the fuel and get back into the throttle it will dump smoke out until the turbo lights. The injection pump is putting out about 450cc's. think I might have to cut the fuel back? It had a zero plate in it now.

screwing the pre boost screw in allows more pre boost fuel ... to me it sounds like you need to loosen the preboost or slide the housing back.
|
I didn't try sliding the housing back yet, I tried backing the pre-boost screw out a good bit and it didn't change much

the afc arm is prob back as far as your washer set up allows the foot to go
|
Is your Turbo Wastegated ?

So I might have to change the washers around?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
In my old afc they were swapped around, but I had a new afc put on the when the pump was benched because the pre boost screw was seized up. So I believe they should be should be stock, I have to pull it off and look at it. I'm not even sure if he put my old foot in, because that was ground down at some spots.

Well I had extra time on my lunch break to pull the afc off an look inside.
The fuel plate was the whole way forward. The afc foot was brand new un-molested. The washers at the rear of the afc looked original. And the pre-boost screw was in further than I thought. So I slid the plate back to the half way point and backed to pre-boost screw out until it just touches the foot. Drove it home...still smokes like a b*tch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

this is your problem
full cuts .120 holders .093 lines 370 injectors #0 plate all these add up to a horribly tuned smoky pig. no other way to say it. put some injectors that are worth a crap in there, a #6ish fuel plate, atleast match the lines with .093 holders. make a nice complementary system or it will always make you look like a tool when you go out for a drive. the AFC is a fine tune, you are so out of tune it wont matter what you do it will smoke. |
Well I figure the full cuts were a great deal of the problem. Thought about going down to an .024
I didn't really think there was an issue with 370 injectors Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
those injectors are dirty.
.024's are pretty nice dv's they dont flow a massive amount but they are clean. |
Is there a better delivery valve that you would recommend?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
i run .024's im my truck and like them very much. everything is controlable, and there is a noticable power gain over stock.
|
.024 and .025 are great DV for daily driving and can be had for under $200
forget the marine 370 unless you have the 155* marine bowl. go with a set of our 5x.012 with the correct spray pattern. |

I will be looking into the turbo section real soon

Yeah , and now that the fuel system is up to par, the turbo is needed , I can smoke now !!!!!! YAY ... only a little though , trying to be respectful of others around me of course ...
